Speaker Pro Tempore 18th District
Sumner, Trousdale & Part of Davidson Counties
What's Happening at the Capitol?
Following the close of the 112th General Assembly, things have slowed down a bit on Capitol Hill. My office has been spending time recapping the bills we passed and preparing for me to present legislative wrap-ups to various groups in the District. I have been blessed to spend some time with constituents in the District and be back on the Farm and in the community in District 18.
National Foster Care Month
May was National Foster Care Month. Every year, during the month of May, we focus on raising awareness of the foster system and everyone involved in helping children and youth in foster care find permanent homes and connections. I am incredibly grateful for the many foster parents in District 18 and across the State.

As a part of National Foster Care Month, Governor Lee called on organizations across the state to donate summer camp spots for Tennessee kids in foster care. If you are an organization which is interested in taking part in this initiative, you can fill out the form here to donate spots. If you are a foster family who wants to take advantage of the opportunity, you can fill out the form here.
Community Events
My wife Kay and I were glad to drive in the Parade at the Strawberry Festival in Portland, which is one of our favorite events each year.
During the month of May, I have had the chance to spend time in the community. I was able to participate in Leadership Goodlettsville's Legislative Panel discussion as a part of their Planning and Government Day, and I had the pleasure of speaking with the Gallatin Chamber of Commerce during their final Good Morning Gallatin event this season.
