Quick Questions to Share with Your Hairdresser

My skin has Warm or Cool undertones

  • Cool undertones: ash, icy, silver, taupe, slate, espresso
  • Warm undertones: golden, caramel, copper, strawberry, chestnut

Please can we avoid tones that clash with my natural colouring

  • Avoid ash tones if you’re a warm season (Spring / Autumn)
  • Avoid golden or copper tones if you’re a cool season (Summer / Winter)

My colour season is Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter

Here are the shades that will work for each season

  • Springs: warm golden tones, honey blonde, light auburn, bright reds (terracotta) - avoid ashy cool tones.
  • Summers: platinum, ashy blondes, mushroom and mid range browns, silver and ash blonde highlights work – avoid warm reds & auburn shades.
  • Autumns: warm golden hair shades; auburn, red, chestnut, warm & dark browns – avoid ash tones.
  • Winters: you need contrast in your hair colour; black, dark brown, mid-browns, ashy blonde, platinum, silver or white – avoid auburn and chestnut shades, highlights can add unwanted warmth by reducing contrast.

Can we use lowlights or highlights to add dimension within my palette?

Tailor the contrast to your season:

  • Muted seasons (Autumn/Summer): muted, blended tones
  • Bright seasons: (Winter/Spring): clear, high contrast

If I am going grey, how can we blend or tone it within my season?

  • Cool seasons: Winter and Summer should use silver, icy white, steel grey
  • Warm seasons: Autumn and Spring should use golden beige, honey, warm lowlights
