The Hale Avenue Extension project is a significant and long-planned transportation improvement for the City of Morgan Hill. The completed project will provide a continuous north/south route on the west side of the City which will help to reduce cut-through traffic in the local neighborhoods. It will also have the benefit of reducing energy consumption by providing an efficient and continuous roadway network within the City of Morgan Hill. In addition to the roadway, the project includes an off street paved bike and pedestrian trail the length of the project. The limits of the Hale Avenue Extension project are West Main Avenue at the north end and Spring Avenue at the south end. This project is broken into two phases. The first phase (Awarded to DeSilva Gates) will construct Hale Avenue between the Spring/Dewitt intersection to Warren Avenue.
The project is tentatively scheduled to begin on March 29, 2021, and end one year later. This project schedule may be impacted by weather or experience other project-related delays.
Phase 1: Spring/Dewitt intersection to Warren Avenue
Work will include the construction of a multimodal roadway with a pedestrian path, including grading and paving, roundabout, undergrounding overhead electric, storm drain system, water main, sound walls, street lights, signing and striping, irrigation, and planting.
We understand that these traffic patterns, detours, and changes can be frustrating. Our hope is to complete the work as quickly as possible and limit the impact to the community. Please remember to drive cautiously through construction areas and follow signage for detours. We recommend utilizing alternate routes as much as possible while the work is being completed.
