Greetings!

We are thrilled to announce Halifax Community College’s game-changing $2.1 million grant that will aid in the establishment of a Student Academic Success Center. Support systems will be implemented to aid students from enrollment to completion. The funding will be essential in helping the college's enrollment, retention and graduation efforts.

This grant is part of a larger initiative by the U.S. Department of Education, which awarded $17 million to community colleges nationwide to support rural students. We are honored to be one of the eight community colleges to receive this funding.

At Halifax Community College, we are dedicated to transforming lives through education. This grant is a testament to our commitment and the hard work of our faculty, staff, and students. Together, we will continue to build a brighter future for our community.

The tournament is being held on Friday, September 13, 2024, opening at 11:30 am and a tee-off time of 1 pm at Chockoyotte Country Club.

Besides the fun you will have, your entry fee will be a donation in support of the Foundation and the work it does to promote Halifax Community College.

The Second Annual Motorcycle Ride for Student Success is September 21st at 10 AM

ROADSHOW HIGHLIGHTS HALIFAX COUNTY’S ECONOMIC ASSETS

The second annual Economic Development Roadshow by the Halifax County Economic Development Commission showcased the county's economic assets. Dr. Patrena Benton Elliott, HCC President, and Dr. Sinclair Nicholson, HCC's Vice President for Workforce and Operations, were happy to participate in the roadshow. Attendees toured the Airboss Rubber Compounding plant and visited new businesses such as Roanoke Steakhouse and Seven Scoops Café. The tour surveyed key economic sites such as Josey Lumber, Edwards Cotton Company, and Sylvan Heights Bird Park. The event highlighted collaborative efforts and future growth opportunities, culminating at the proposed Halifax Corporate Park site.
