On September 13, 2024, the Halifax Community College Foundation hosted its 15th Annual Golf Tournament, a day filled with great weather, friendly competition, and unwavering support for student success. The event brought together participants, sponsors, and volunteers, all united in their commitment to raising funds to help students achieve their educational goals.

This year, the Foundation was particularly grateful to Cummins, Inc., the Title Sponsor, for their generous support, along with other sponsors and contributors who made the event possible. The tournament concluded with First Citizens Bank claiming the first-place title, followed by Smurfit Westrock in second place, and New Dixie Oil corporation in third place. Walt  Coley was the lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle, adding to the day’s excitement.

The Center for Energy Education’s Radiant Rays, played an integral role in the tournament's success, assisting throughout the event to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their efforts, along with the generosity of all sponsors and participants, helped make this year's tournament an impactful and memorable occasion.

Proceeds from the tournament will go directly toward initiatives that support student success, including scholarships and academic resources, furthering Halifax Community College's mission to provide opportunities for students to excel.

Constitution Day

On September 17, 2024, HCC observed Constitution Day with its annual program, honoring the adoption of the United States Constitution and recognizing those who have become U.S. citizens. The event commemorated the signing of the Constitution by delegates at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787.

This year’s program was led by Mr. David Plonski, History Instructor and Department Head of Humanities and Social Sciences. The event's theme was "Your Right to Vote," highlighting the critical importance of participating in elections. Students participated by sharing their personal thoughts on the value and significance of voting.

The discussions emphasized the importance of civic responsibility and how voting empowers citizens to have a voice in shaping the nation's future. 

Motorcycle Ride Fundraiser

On September 21, Halifax Community College held the 2nd Annual Ride for a Cause: Supporting Student Success Motorcycle Ride fundraiser. 

Dr. Patrena Benton Elliott, President/CEO of Halifax Community College, proudly led the ride participate. 

The event was more than just a ride; it was a celebration of community and a shared commitment to ensuring every student has the tools and opportunities to succeed. Halifax Community College extends heartfelt thanks to all participants and donors who helped make the event successful.
