The Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, Sr. Centre was the site of an extraordinary event on May 10th - the HCC 57th Annual Commencement ceremony. This occasion marked the culmination of the academic journey for 280 graduates who were awarded their degrees and credentials. Such an achievement is a true testament to their dedication and commitment to their studies. We extend our warmest congratulations to these graduates and trust that the knowledge and skills they have acquired will prove invaluable in their future endeavors.

PTK INDUCTION

Halifax Community College's Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society inducted 21 new members during its spring induction ceremony. Invitations to join PTK were extended to prospective members who had achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher, completed at least 12 credit hours towards their associate’s degree, and were in good academic standing.

The Counseling and Career Center at Halifax Community College held its first wellness resource fair on May 1st. The primary objective of the Standing On Wellness Resource Fair was to empower individuals to embrace healthier lifestyles, cultivate a culture of well-being, and facilitate behavior change.

Halifax Community College Expands Practical Nursing Program with Evening Classes to Support Working Learners

Halifax Community College (HCC) is excited to announce that it will soon offer evening classes for its Practical Nursing Program, to accommodate working individuals who are interested in pursuing nursing education. This expansion is supported by a $400,000 grant awarded to HCC through the State Board of Community Colleges Allocation for High-Cost Workforce Start-Up and Expansion Fund.


The decision to introduce evening classes was made in response to the growing demand from individuals who have work commitments but aspire to become nurses. The expansion of Practical Nursing to include evening classes presents a transformative opportunity for those who require flexibility.

NCWU & Halifax Community College Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Halifax Community College signed an agreement that will enable its graduates to transfer to North Carolina Wesleyan University. The agreement aims to provide a seamless transfer for students who enroll at Wesleyan following completion of their two-year degree at HCC. 


The agreement will enhance and expand the educational opportunities of Associate in Arts, Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science graduates by offering HCC graduates access to the benefits of the Wesleyan Works program, pre-admission advising, generous transfer credit and a clear definition of the transfer of courses from HCC to NC Wesleyan. This MOU allows HCC Associate in Applied Science students to transfer an additional 15 hours of general education credits for a total of 75 transfer credits.
