About Junior Achievement

8,000 + young people at nearly 50 schools and organizations benefit from Junior Achievement of Brazoria County programs each year, with help from more than 300 dedicated volunteers. JA programs change lives by giving young people the tools to thrive and teaching three crucial lessons: personal financial responsibility, workforce readiness and entrepreneurial thinking. JA empowers young people to own their economic success. This mission is accomplished through volunteers who take the time to teach JA, provide role model behavior and establish a mentoring relationship with students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Junior Achievement of Brazoria County serves all school districts in the county as well as private schools, after school and in school groups and organizations.

Online Tool For Teens, Educators & Parents

JA, with the support of The Hartford, has launched JA MyBiz Builder. It's a free online tool for teens, educators and parents.

With hands-on activities, this free tool allows teens to create and test a business plan.

Please join the Business movers and shakers of Brazoria County at the nineteenth annual Brazoria County Business Hall of Fame. The event is scheduled for September 13, 2018 at the Lake Jackson Civic Center hosted by Junior Achievement of Brazoria County.

Laureates to be inducted at the event include:

Kenneth K. Vernor of Freeport.

These Laureates will be recognized for their business achievement by being inducted into the Brazoria County Business Hall of Fame. These individuals have demonstrated a lifetime of business excellence, courageous thinking and actions, vision and innovation, and leadership that have led Brazoria County in a better and stronger direction.

The 2017-2018 Educator of the Year honor goes to

Dianne Thompson of Clute Intermediate School. The Volunteer of the Year award goes to Anne Allstott of TDECU. The Albert P. Beutel, II & Buster Curry Scholarship presentations will also be made to high school seniors from the county as well as Presidential Volunteer Service Awards to individuals and companies.

A JA-in-a day program brings 18-20 classroom volunteers to the school for a one day event.

Traditional volunteer opportunities are also available in the following school districts:

Angleton, Alvin, Brazosport,

Columbia-Brazoria, Damon, Danbury,

Pearland and Sweeny

Traditional programs are taught for 30-45 minutes per session over the course of 5-6 weeks. Contact Tova Heimeyer
