That Train is Coming For You!
By Vincent L. Hall

White folks are embroiled in their own Civil War right now, but it ain’t the first time. I remind you of Pastor Niemöller’s words because the “minorities” of this nation must learn to stick together. Not everyone is gay. Forty-three percent of us will never need an abortion. Nevertheless, democracy dictates that we form non-homogenous coalitions. Check out “Reconstruction for Dummies.” In it, you can connect the dots from Reconstruction to Jim Crow, to Donald Trump, to January 6, 2021, and lately, a slashing of “liberal civil rights” by the Supreme Court. Black folks always have to be wary because it always affects us worse when civil rights are stripped, severed, or sacrificed.

Family of Love Field shooter says they have not been updated on her medical condition

Portia Odufuwa was stable Sunday afternoon, Dallas police said.

The family of the woman shot by a Dallas police officer after she opened fire inside Love Field airport said Sunday that neither police nor the hospital have updated them about her medical condition since the shooting almost a week ago. Portia Odufuwa, 37, was shot multiple times about 11 a.m. July 25 in her “lower extremities” after police allege she fired into the airport’s ceiling and at the officer. She was taken to a hospital, where she underwent surgery, police said.

PORT-AU-PRINCE — At least three people were shot, including one Haitian National Police officer fatally, and a church and prosecutor’s office were set on fire so far this week during a period of rising gang violence and social unrest, according to local reports.  Members of the 400 Mawozo gang, the police told Le Nouvelliste, shot police officer Réginald Laleau dead inside a local church, Assemblée de Dieu à Meyer, after a Sunday service. After shooting Laleau, the killers took away his body and cut off his hands, WhatsApp videos and pictures show.

Having Our Say on Howard Terminal
NNPA Newswire/BlackPressUSA
Oakland Post
By Greg Hodge

Voters in a democracy should always get the final say. A recent poll indicates that 76% of those asked believed that the voters should have been allowed to weigh in on whether public dollars should be spent on the Howard Terminal project that would create a new home for the Oakland A’s. Twelve thousand people signed a petition to encourage our City Council to put the question to the voters as to whether any public monies — local, state or federal — should be used to build the stadium, affordable housing or to finance infrastructure in an around the Howard Terminal site. The City Council rejected this reasonable request, and it makes us wonder, “Why?”
The Path

As we walk through life's journey, we leave footprints. Some just show where we are going. Others redirect us when we get lost. Still others remain to guide those we leave behind. I see your footprints.
