A Note from Scott and Marsha
March 17, 2022

In case you were wondering, we have officially moved past the second NC "winter" that we experienced last weekend and now experiencing the second false spring. You can always count on North Carolina to be consistent? Consistently rude by teasing us. But there is no teasing with the time change. Once it happens, there is no going back and it is absolutely my favorite time of the year. Spring and the time change are game changers for my energy. And I heard this morning, that we may drop time changes all together in 2023. Now that I can support.
Not only does sunshine give me energy and boost my mood but this baby is life right now. Halle Claire, our granddaughter, celebrated her first birthday. I know. How is it even possible we are celebrating a year already? She is absolutely a bundle of joy. She meets all the milestones but my favorite right now are her sweet kisses and her crawling as fast as she can to the phone when I Facetime. It is my favorite time of day.

In order to celebrate, we had to have balloons. Who do you call for balloons? You call Granddaddy. If you don't remember, Scott loves balloons. LOVES balloons. He loves them so much, he has a large helium tank at work. Erica ordered the confetti balloons and Scott's job was to fill them. Carefully, I might add.
Exhibit A displays the beautiful NC blue sky and Scott's truck filled with balloons. What is missing is the balloon that popped in Lizzie's office. The confetti completely covered her floor and every flat surface surrounding him. I'm sure words were also popping!

Exhibit B is Halle right before she enjoyed smashing her first donut since it was donut-themed. The expression of sheer joy on her face when she tasted the donut was priceless. She nibbled and then looked at her mom and her eyes all but said, "Are you serious right now? I really can have this?" Yes, baby girl, yes you can. Kudos to Daniel and Erica for year one in the books. Daniel's words were, "Can't believe someone let me be partially in charge of a human life, yet here we are!"
I believe some of you leave the Garden Center thinking, "I can't believe they let me be partially in charge of this living plant, yet here I go!" Well, we have faith in you or we have secretly given you one of our "bullet proof" plants and didn't have the heart to tell you. Either way, we can't wait to send the living love home with you. So don't kill it. Baaaahhahahahahaaa!!!

CALATHEA
Calatheas are known for being visually beautiful plants! Dark green leaves are decorated with bright pink pinstripes creating an etched or hand-painted look. Calatheas also belong to the prayer plant family. They are known for raising their leaves to the sun and folding them down at night. Though the motion is subtle, you’ll notice a burgundy purple color on the underside of the leaves, revealing another beautiful aspect of this diverse plant. Calathea is non-toxic and pet-friendly making it safe for any area in your home. Plus, this showy plant is easy to grow and will add a decorative touch to any interior space.

CREEPING PHILOX
This go-anywhere perennial is a must-have in landscapes that lack style and/or color. Boasting a low growing yet prolific habit, Creeping Phlox adds a lush carpet of pink, purple, white and blue blooms to sunny spaces. Blooms appear in early to mid spring with a later rebloom in fall, producing plenty of star-shaped flowers to enjoy. Highly attractive to butterflies and other beneficial pollinators, the fragrant blooms add another dimension to nearly any garden or landscape.

You ever wonder where all the beautiful plants come from? Ann's vendor, J & B Herb & Plant Farms, is located in Roxboro, basically in our back pocket! We pride ourselves on supporting local and as close to our area as possible first and foremost. We love our local suppliers and this cutie showed up with a beautiful delivery Tuesday morning with gorgeous mint, basil, oregano, sage, thyme, rosemary and more. His name is Mr. Newton and he was just so darn cute and kind, I wanted to put him in my pocket! Remember: when you are driving and pass a trucker, you can thank them with a smile and a wave. You never know the miles they may have traveled to bring you a bit of joy! When trucks arrive here, I swear it's like Christmas morning! You support local, we support local, let's ALL support LOCAL!
