Halloween is here! Whether you're dressing up or handing out candy, this spooky holiday was made for kids.
But for Bounce kids and families, Halloween is a reminder of what they
cannot
do. Roaming the neighborhood for sweet treats on a chilly night is not an option for them. Left out, they feel invisible
and
isolated - not just on the 31st, but for the entire month as "What are you going to be for Halloween?" is the standard greeting in October.
This October, beloved partner, Jones Day, once again, gave Bounce kids a chance to be kids -- not just a patients -- by sponsoring and hosting Halloween Hoopla 2017. Healthy siblings got their Halloween back, too, and parents smiled with relief.
Jones Day Staff magnificently transformed the conference rooms of 77 W. Wacker Dr into magazine-worthy Moana, Emoji, Star Wars, Superhero, and Scooby Doo themed trick-or-treat rooms. Far more important than candy, Bounce families were given a chance to anticipate, to participate, to be 'normal'. It was truly special to watch kids, teens and parents leave their worries at the door and flourish!
A huge thank you to all who made Halloween Hoopla 2017 a huge success: Jones Day and their Staff, Bounce Emerging Leaders Board Members and Volunteers!
Wishing you a safe and spooktacular Halloween -
