We called, and they came! This morning, NYC DOT crews were out in Lincoln Square, promptly filling potholes just one day after we reported them. It’s a great reminder of the strong partnership we share with City agencies, working together to keep our neighborhood safe and well-maintained. Our collaboration with these agencies is key to ensuring the district runs smoothly, and we appreciate their support.
Our Clean Team members and Public Safety Officers are always vigilant, reporting safety concerns to 311 when necessary. Remember, you can do the same! If you spot any issues in the district, don’t hesitate to report them to 311 or contact our office by calling 212-581-3774 or emailing info@lincolnsquarebid.org.

Fines to Businesses for Cleanliness Violations Have Increased: Businesses are required to keep sidewalks and gutter areas clean. Failure to do so will result in escalating fines for repeat offenses within a 12-month period. Businesses must clean the sidewalk (including areas like tree pits, grass strips, etc.) and gutter areas (18 inches from the curb into the street) along the building perimeter and not block sidewalks (call 311 to learn if signage or displays are allowed on your specific street). Learn more here.
Composting Has Begun: Curbside composting is now available to all residents. Service will be year-round every week, and collection is on your recycling day. Learn more about the program here. If you have not already done so, place your order for a free Brown Bin for your building. Orders must be placed before October 28, 2024.
New Trash Containerization Rules for Residential Buildings: The NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) recently announced plans to containerize all residential trash. As of November 12, 2024, properties with fewer than 10 residential units will be required to use bins with secure lids for trash set-out (55 gallons max) before transitioning to the use of an official NYC bin next summer. Eventually, properties with 10-30 residential units will be required to choose either stationary, on-street containers, or smaller wheelie bins, and properties with 31+ units will be required to use stationary, on-street containers for their trash, serviced by new, automated side-loading garbage trucks. On-street containers will be assigned to a specific building solely for residents of that building. Learn more or attend one of DNSY’s virtual information sessions, which will be held on Thursdays throughout October and November.
