Newton kids in grades 3-8 are invited to participate in this safe and fun event.
Artwork will be made at home and then delivered to a participating merchant for display on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24. Registration is $10.
The official selections are in for the spring Covid-19 photo contest. The 21 photos--that captured the pandemic impact for future generations-- will be exhibited at City Hall at a date to be determined. All 90 photos submitted will be archived at Historic Newton. Take a look at the virtual exhibition here.
There are 2500 fire hydrants in Newton and resident David Porat wants to turn rust into red. With the help of Dana Hanson in the mayor’s office and The Office of Parks, Recreation and Culture, Porat has the supplies he needs. A former engineer, he wants to “help the city and work with his hands.”
.
In good weather, Porat can scrape and paint up to five hydrants. These hydrants are near Center and Ward streets.
You’ll notice the difference across Newton Centre, his home village.
