MARKET HIGHLIGHTS


Below, please find national real estate housing data and infographics from the National Association of Realtors. Since it is said that all real estate is local, we are following this up with a summary of the Louisiana market. We think you'll be most interested in what is happening here, but it helps to be aware of national market trends. 


National Snapshot for the month of *August:


  • Pending sales are down 2.0% - month over month
  • Closed sales are down .4% - month over month


However:


  • On an average, homes are still selling faster as follows:
  • 16 days on market in August
  • 14 days on market in July
  • 17 days on market in June
  • Average days on the market is 16
  • All cash sales account for 24% of transactions [same as in July, yet up from June's 22%]


Challenges:


  • Low inventory
  • Rising interest rates


However, we continue to engage in a Seller's Market.


Inventory continues to be insufficient to meet needs.  According to Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist at National Association of Realtors, inventory is expected to remain low for the next couple of years unless new inventory becomes available because of New Construction.


*Please continue to keep in mind that data and statistics lag about one month behind and September's figures won't be available till the third week of October.
