Fifth Grade Transition to Hamilton Information

As principal of Hamilton Middle, I want to welcome you and your child to an important chapter in their education and growth: the transition to middle school! You are receiving this newsletter because your child is currently in fifth grade and is enrolled in an elementary school that matriculates to Hamilton Middle.
Moving into February means that we are beginning to work toward welcoming our incoming sixth grade class. Below please find an important list of items and dates for things that are currently taking place or will be coming soon as we work to welcome our new sixth grade students and their families.
Connecting at Elementary Schools: Our school counselors have shared this presentation with all fifth grade teachers at our elementary feeder schools. Teachers shared the presentation recently with their classes. The presentation gives a good overview of many important aspects of middle school including start and end times, transportation, student schedules, lockers, after school programs, and more. In addition, our two Hamilton counselors will be visiting your child's 5th grade classroom between February 2nd and February 11th to share more specific details about the transition and answer their questions.
Music Selection Form: After the counselors visit your child's school, they will have a music selection form to select their music class in 6th grade. Please make your selection and have your child return this form to their 5th grade teacher by the last Friday in February.
Parent Orientation Opportunities: Normally we would of course have evening in person meetings at Hamilton Middle to provide tours to our students, and orientation sessions for parents. In lieu of these in person events, we have scheduled two live virtual meetings for parents for the below dates. We will be sharing Zoom links to these meetings as the dates get closer. While we have separated the meetings alphabetically so as not to overwhelm our digital interface, feel free to join either meeting if your assigned date does not work for you.
