Happy March! Spring is right around the corner and we're excited for the beautiful ceremonies and the FUN receptions! But where do you even start with wedding entertainment? There seem to be so many options when it comes to weddings. Hundreds of flowers to choose from, what menu to have, which bridesmaid dress is the best fit....there are so many choices. But wedding entertainment doesn't have to be stressful.

First things first, what kind of music do YOU like? Is country music what you love the most? Do you find classical music romantic and timeless? No matter what your style is, there is a musical option for your wedding and we're excited to share those options with you below.

We have some amazing DJs that we recommend that can truly make your wedding magical.

There are a few parts of the ceremony you'll need to make sure you have music for:

Prelude
Bridesmaid and Groomsmen procession
Bridal procession
Ceremony Interlude (may or may not be necessary based on your wedding)
Recessional

The great thing about wedding music, as is the case with every other aspect of your wedding day, is that it's your wedding so it's YOUR rules! If you want to play acoustic music for the entire ceremony, go for it! If you want something more traditional, a violinist or DJ playing instrumental music would be more your speed. Either way, it's totally up to you. We love seeing couples incorporate beautiful songs that are meaningful to their relationship into the ceremony in some way.

Some couples even choose to do a combination of classic and contemporary. For example, you can choose to have more modern love songs that are meaningful to you play while guests are arriving (here is a great list from Brides.com  Songs for Your Wedding Ceremony) and then play more classical music for the processions.

Reception Music

Complete Weddings + Events

While ceremony music is lovely and sets the romantic mood, reception music can transform your wedding! A great band or DJ will keep the crowd entertained, but also make sure that the music is appropriate for the event.

When working with a DJ, make sure you keep these points in mind:
-A DJ is not just someone to play music. They will keep the event moving by being a ringleader of sorts. They'll announce when it's time for tables to go to the buffet, make sure that certain dances go off without a hitch, and read the room if your guests aren't feeling the music selection.

-While a DJ knows all the best hits for a reception to get guests dancing, they will work with you to create the perfect playlist. You can let your DJ know your favorite songs and also the songs you DON'T like. Maybe the "YMCA" just isn't your thing! They also know which songs are most appropriate for the event so your grandparents aren't shocked by the song choices. We love this list from Martha Stewart Weddings of songs you're almost guaranteed to hear at 2019 weddings.

-Many DJ companies are now offering more services such as lighting or photo booth rentals. Some even offer event planning! This is a great way to streamline your vendors.
