Sit-Down Dinner or Buffet?

There are several factors that might come into play when trying to decide between a sit-down dinner or buffet for your wedding.

Cost: For some catering companies, a buffet can be less expensive than a sit-down dinner. Sit down meals require more wait staff.

Ambiance: If you're wanting a more glamorous or formal event, a sit-down dinner creates the perfect ambiance for your event. A buffet is a little more casual and relaxed. It's all about what you're going for as a couple and the tone you want to set for your guests.

Variety and Choice: A buffet tends to give your guests a little more choice and variety in what they put on their plates. For sit down meals your guests can often choose between a few choices (beef, fish, or chicken, for example) but outside of that there is typically little room for editing the meal. With food allergies and intolerances a buffet is a great option.

Aside from a sit-down dinner or buffet, you could also opt for a family-style or stations meal. We enjoyed this article from Brides Magazine about the pros and cons of all of your options!

Dessert Trends

So many couples are choosing to supplement the wedding cake with beautiful desserts like candy, pies, and cupcakes or ditch the cake all together! While we love the traditional wedding cake, we also love the idea of making your wedding reflect you as a couple and your preferences. If you're a southern pie loving couple, than have your caterer whip up some homemade pies in a variety of flavors for your guests. A rustic wedding would be the perfect backdrop for a table full of fresh fruit pies.

If you're having a French inspired affair, how beautiful would a table full of French pastries be? Donuts are also a huge trend that we are seeing right now. Some couples even have a donut cake instead of the typical wedding cake! Whatever you decide, your caterer definitely has some great ideas to help you pick the yummiest treats for your event.

Food Truck Trend

Food trucks are a really fun way to incorporate trendy food into your wedding day. They are incredibly popular right now (have you seen the food truck shows on Food Network?!) and for good reason! They typically focus on one specific type of food, like grilled cheese or burritos, and offer a smaller menu. Some couples are choosing to have a food truck either for their cocktail hour serving small plates or as a send off at the end of the night.

Our friends at Karnage Asada are a great staple in Hampton Roads food truck cuisine. We love their delicious options!
