Hamptons Walking Dunes & Inspired Color

Several times a year, my family and I enjoy taking a trip to various towns in the Hamptons to enjoy the beauty of the ocean and the beaches. We particulary like going off season, when the crowds have not arrived, and we get these areas all to ourselves!
 
One special place that we like to visit is the Walking Dunes. They are named this not because you are allowed to walk on them, but because the wind and natural elements change the configuration of the dunes constantly!
 
 

My kids love to jump off the dunes into thin air. They feel like they are flying!  

 

Colorful Arrangements

 

Something that can be seen throughout the Hamptons are flowers beautifully arranged in pots and planters. If you do not have a green thumb, but like to surround yourself with color, this is a great way to accomplish both!

 

These photos were taken in Sag Harbor, another one of my favorite towns.

A Transformation
 
In preparation for a very special Bridal Shower party, I was asked to makeover this Living Room with a more contemporary color palette and fabrics. The initial thought was to purchase new furniture, but the frames were in great shape, and I knew that we could transform them into something spectacular. You can see this in the before and after of the chair below!
 
The subtle color palette for the wall paint and fabrics were inspired by the beach and sky with its soft creams, taupes and off whites. It created the pleasant, bright relaxing atmosphere that we were striving for.

Finishing Touches
 
This comfortable family room needed some finishing touches for the family to truly enjoy it. Window treatments were added to complete the room, helping with sun glare and drafts too! The open floorplan included the kitchen area, where we added the same treatments to tie the rooms together. Accessories on the table gave a country feel to the spindle back chairs as well.
 
The color palette, with its gold, maroons and greens, was inspired by an Autumn seasonal pallette. The beautiful views to the outside show off the greenery of the trees and accentuate our color theme.
