January & February 2021
of the Month
On July 26, 1961, a group of parents refused to accept that their developmentally disabled children were "unemployable" and opened the doors where over 350 lives are positively affected each and every day. For the last 6 decades, individuals from all walks of life have contributed to the success of Handi-Crafters'. To honor those who put immense energy and love into the creation of Handi-Crafters' over the last 60 years, we're recognizing individuals that have been nominated by their friends, family, and colleagues, that represent and uphold Handi-Crafters' mission and vision.
Peggy Eichelberger
Peggy began working for Handi-Crafters on April 13, 2015. She is the Chief Financial Officer and Director of HR and is widely admired for her dedication to Handi-Crafters. Colleagues and peers cannot speak highly enough of Peggy. She works tirelessly to keep Handi-Crafters operating and is always multi-tasking between paying bills, financial reports, attending meetings, and so much more.

“Her dedication to employees and clients goes above and beyond, always.”

Peggy’s favorite memory of Handi-Crafters was watching the clients return to work after our shutdown in 2020 for Covid-19 because everyone was so excited to be back in the workshops and be able to work again.

We are so fortunate and thankful for Peggy’s continued commitment to the mission of Handi-Crafters!
Rachel Carney
Rachel has been at Handi-Crafters since June 2012 and loves her job! She is not only reliable but also a hard worker. She currently works in one of our workshops and, before Covid-19, she was also working in the kitchen during various lunch periods.

She is proud of earning her own money. Rachel loves the independence of buying her own clothes, getting her hair done, and having a structured routine.

Her resiliency throughout the past year hasn’t gone unnoticed. In a world full of adjustments, Rachel has been continuously present, hardworking, and goal-oriented.

Rachel’s friends and colleagues are so proud of her and her accomplishments over the last nine years. They can’t wait to see what more she will accomplish!

“Although we love having Rachel as a part of our team, we want her to gain her wings and fly. She is young and capable. We are so proud of her!”
