Ryan spent years playing guitar for other artists before deciding to take a leap of faith and start his own band. Susan, Michael, and Glenn, already musical companions from past groups, joined him on the journey. Together, they’ve created a sound that Ryan describes as “modern outlaw country”—a nod to legends like Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, blended with their own grit and energy. | |
Even their name, Rough Cuts, carries meaning. “We’re all pretty rough cut, like rough cut lumber—rough on the edges.” Just like a Habitat home begins with raw materials and transforms into something lasting and beautiful, their music is authentic, unpolished, and full of strength.
For Ryan, the magic isn’t just in the music, but in the energy the band creates together. “When the whole band is firing together, it makes an undeniable energy that draws you in,” he says. That energy is what they’ll bring to Berthoud this fall as the featured band for the Habitat Hoedown 2025.
| And supporting Habitat isn’t just another gig for Ryan—it’s personal. | “I fully support Habitat’s mission, and I absolutely love the people. Berthoud Habitat folks are filled with heart, love, purpose, and kindness. The world needs more communities like this.” | | On November 1st, Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts will fill Grace Place with loud guitars, dancing, and joy—but also with the spirit of community. Because just like Habitat, their hope is simple: to create connection, lift people up, and remind us that when we come together, we can build something that lasts. | | | | |

Construction Updates
As we wrap up our second closing of the fiscal year, we’re filled with gratitude for all that’s been accomplished—and excitement for what’s ahead.
| |
Last month, we celebrated the closing of Addison’s home, marking another milestone in our mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. A huge shout-out to the volunteers who made this dream a reality—your hard work and compassion keep our builds moving forward.
| We were especially blessed to have Habitat for Humanity of Colorado join us to side Addison’s garage—an amazing show of partnership and teamwork. | |
Meanwhile, we’re getting close to finishing Abraham and Teresa's home, thanks in large part to the YMCA of the Rockies Elevate program. Their crew jumped in to paint the exterior and complete landscaping for both Abraham’s and Addison’s homes. Their energy and generosity kept our momentum strong—leading to our third home closing in just four months!

Looking ahead, we’ve broken ground at 1778 N. 4th Street, where the foundation is set for our last home on 4th Street. We plan to crane the home next month, and we can’t wait to see it come together.
Thank you to every volunteer, donor, partner, and staff member who makes these moments possible. Every nail, every hour, every smile on the job site builds more than homes—it builds hope.
