Hands of Peace News and Updates
Upcoming Israel/Palestine Trip
October 16 - 27, 2016
Customized for our supporters, the October, 2016 Hands of Peace Dual Narrative Tour will offer a combination of rich historical, cultural and spiritual experiences, along with experiences that help define the current political reality. As we travel together, we will engage with people whose personal stories bring both sides of the conflict to life. This trip will challenge us on many levels, but the result will be an increased knowledge of the conflict that will provide travelers with a deeper understanding of Hands of Peace and the work that we do.  To learn more about this incredible opportunity, please visit our Mejdi/Hands of Peace website.

Summer Program Updates
July 13th - August 1st
Both San Diego and Chicago are gearing up for the 2016 Summer Program. Participants
have been selected and are being prepared for an intensive experience that will allow  them the opportunity to re-think their assumptions, stereotypes and beliefs . Anyone interested in sponsoring activities, donating meals, supplies or time to the Summer Program should contact Julia Duerst in Chicago or Eileen Maurer in San Diego.

Welcome Rick Rosenfeld, Hands of Peace New Executive Director
The Board of Directors of Hands of Peace is proud to announce that Rick Rosenfeld has joined the Hands of Peace staff as Executive Director as of June 1st.

Rick brings a wealth of experience in international travel, risk and crisis management, strategic planning and business/non-profit management.  He has a keen interest in the Middle East. In 1999, Rick founded TravelMBA, an international educational travel company that quickly became the market leader for faculty-led immersions for business school students.  In 2009, WorldStrides acquired TravelMBA and with Rick's involvement, continued to expand its vision and mission.  In his most recent role Vice President (Risk Management and Client Services), Rick helped expand travel offerings to more than 100 countries globally.  He has coordinated frequent programs in Israel with occasional visits to Ramallah and Bethlehem.   Through his work he has travelled to more than 50 countries across six continents and has handled the company's responses to events as varied as political turmoil, natural disaster, terrorism and global health issues.  Student health and safety is always Rick's primary concern.

Rick has also worked as a management consultant servicing the insurance industry, and spent seven years in a senior role with The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. He holds a BS in Journalism (Medill School) and an MBA (Kellogg School of Management) both from Northwestern University. Rick, wife Meghan and their teen daughter reside in Northbrook.

In his words:
"I am honored to join Hands of Peace as Executive Director at this important time.  Each step in my professional journey has been building toward this moment. I am excited to begin partnering with the hundreds of students, alumni and volunteers on this important journey to foster understanding, compassion and peace."

Welcome Rick!
