Hi Friends!
It’s been quite a while and I just had to update you with exciting events going on in my life and at GreatHouse.
My son, Ryan, is getting married in May and I recently hosted a bridal shower for my soon to be daughter-in-law, Hannah.
In January I started a much needed refresh of my home. I chose neutral panels from our ready made curtain line. Our window treatments have a cult following with residents AND designers wanting quality and affordability and they arrive in less than a week. New samples have arrived at the shop many with trims, too!
Shaun from Main Street Bloomery created this spectacular centerpiece with my antique stone urn with blush hydrangeas, viburnum, light pink peonies, anemones, roses from Holland and lots of greens.
My dining room was so very fragrant and magical with the eucalyptus roping on heirloom linen tablecloths.
We tied simple silver ball ribbon for napkin rings.
I was so excited to find antique hemstitch linen guest towels with raised embroidery to use and then gift to Hannah.
Our modern green vase adds a fresh feel in my foyer with all the antiques. A few more green vases in different sizes are available. We also have lots of green stems at the shop.
My granddaughter and flower girl, Madison, was my right hand in prep leading up to the shower and we had fun freezing roses to use in the wine cooler. We boiled the water first to try and get the cubes clear.
I just love the shine of hotel silver.
It was still winter here so I just added fresh moss, found at the craft store, to my planters and Maddie and I scattered rose petals everywhere. Did you know ShopRite sells bags of rose petals?
In my family we show our love by cooking and my Mom did a cooking demo to show the ladies how easy it is to make our family tomato sauce and her famous meatballs. (recipes below)

We had premade a couple of dozen and they were the favorite on the buffet table.
My sister, Denise, baked a beautiful Brie cheese with pastry hearts.
I was busy and didn’t snap buffet pics but I was very pleased with the food and especially the care and attention Ome Catering offered. I dropped off my hotel silver trays ahead of time and they arranged.
Please note how the lovely linen napkin contrasts beautifully with the rustic stone mortar bowl. We always speak of contrasts in design at GreatHouse as a must have.
Personalized kitchen towels found on Etsy.
I hung old crystals everywhere. Missy from Memes Sweet Confections created the piñata cake for us in the themed colors. Her cakes are amazing and she made this one with hydrangeas and roses and I don’t think you can see the light dusting of sparkle she added. The best part of Missy’s creations are they not only look great, they are all made from scratch and taste AMAZING!
My niece, Zoe, made the checkerboard cookies. My niece Hilary, made the Samoa cookies, my sister Nicole made the lemon tarts and Maddie made the Oreos. I am pictured here with my niece Jordan who also just got engaged! So many wonderful events happening in my family right now.
Easy peasy pretty treats by dipping Oreos in white chocolate then decorated with tiny blue flowers made from blue fondant.
Hannah has a real sweet tooth! (Girl after my own heart) Do you see the crystal bowl with the dessert forks? I filled the bowl with white candy and stood the forks up for an unexpected serving idea.
When Hannah cut the cake, candy poured’s called a piñata!

We played games too which Hannah’s sister, Kelly, planned. You can see the photos on the mantle are actually game props where everyone had to guess how old Ryan and Hannah were in the pics. Prizes were given out and I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of the pretty favors where we included a bottle of olive oil, a wooden spoon and laminated family recipe cards all wrapped in tulle and tied with hand dyed silk ribbon.
The wedding invitations have been delivered, the wedding is in early May and we are busy with all the details. My heart is full as the day approaches as I feel so blessed to welcome such a strong, sweet and loving woman to our family. Love you Hannah XOXO
