Prayer of Lenten Solidarity
God of All Peoples,
As we look ahead to our Lenten journey,
may our fasting be a hunger for justice,
our alms an offering of peace,
and our prayers a reflection of humble and grateful hearts.
We ask the Holy Spirit to accompany us
as we spend these 40 days reflecting
on what it means to be companions on the journey
to encounter our global human family.
How may this encounter with our neighbor transform our own lives?
How may our prayers, fasting and almsgiving support those worldwide
who are forced to flee their homes for safety or better opportunities?
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever.
AMEN

"I remember at one point being in fellowship, and everyone used to wear the fish symbol; it said you were a Christian. So I asked my father, "Dad, why don't you wear that at work ?" And he said, "Your religion should be in your actions.". He set a great, great example."
Hugh Jackman
Over the years, I have met many people in different areas of society. The ones who have left a lasting impression on me are the people who were consistent. That consistency of character spanned the many different areas of their life. I expect to find nice people in church. You notice courtesy from people in customer service. What surprises me is courtesy, friendliness, and respect on the highways and roads. The Apostle Paul in his letter to The Ephesians said, "with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.". That speaks to me of treating everyone the same and putting your own needs and desires second. We are called to be the same person on Sunday morning at church as we are on the highway or in the grocery store checkout. That consistency of our behavior just doesn't show others that we are people of good character, but that reflect the same love that was given to us by Christ Jesus. As we reflect God's love everyday, we replace judgement with compassion, ridicule with encouragement, and hate with love and understanding. Today, be your best self and reflect God's love to those you encounter along the way. Keep shining!

We are running are low on items for our community food pantry. It is getting quite popular! We would really appreciate any contribution you can make. It can be canned goods, pasta, rice, crackers, individual snacks, granola or protein bars, flour, peanut butter, ramen whatever you think would help someone else! We do ask that it be non-perishable and food that will not freeze outside due to the cold weather!

From Pastor Sarah...
The season of Lent has begun. These 40 days are set apart for intentional spiritual discipline in preparation for Easter. They reflect the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness and help us to ready our hearts to experience anew the Cross and the Resurrection. In worship, churches who practice Lent choose not to sing hymns with the word “Alleluia” from this Sunday until Easter morning. The joy of God's redemption is more poignant when we take time to remember our human frailty, our weakness, and our mortality. A thousand resurrections will ring hollow if we cannot tell the truth about the crosses of this world. As the beloved song says, “We are weak, but God is strong.”
I encourage you, this Lent, to spend quiet time in a new spiritual practice or fast from something that distracts or discourages you. As you consider what path you might take, here are two pairs of guiding questions that have been helpful to me:
“When I wake up on Resurrection morning, how do I want to be different? How can I get there over the next 40 days?”
And, “What does God want to hand me? (For example, hope, peace, joy, rest). In order to receive it, what do I need to lay down?”
The following are two opportunities for spiritual practice this season....
