Title Review: Library Staff

"Mary, an irresponsible free spirit living in New York City,

throws legendary parties and skims by on charm."

Museum Collections Manager Ellie Norman recommends Party Girl, a film starring Parker Posey.

In Party Girl (1995, rated R), director Daisy von Scherler Mayer delivers a stylish and witty indie comedy about a young woman stumbling her way into adulthood—via the Dewey Decimal System.

Mary, an irresponsible free spirit living in New York City, throws legendary parties and skims by on charm.

But when she’s arrested for throwing one too many illegal ragers, she turns to her librarian godmother for bail money—and a job. What follows is an endearing and often hilarious transformation as Mary realizes that library work, much like life, requires more than just good vibes. Watching her go from scoffing at shelving books to mastering the art of reference work is as satisfying as it is unexpected.

Parker Posey is perfectly cast, bringing irresistible energy to Mary, a character who is both frustrating and deeply lovable. Her journey is punctuated by a fantastic ‘90s club soundtrack, featuring everything from house beats to hip-hop, making the film feel as electric as its protagonist’s nightlife...

Book Beat: Student Book Review

Hi! My name is Bria. I am a ski racer, swimmer, and dancer. I love reading in my free time. For my Book Beat review, I read Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson.

Good Girl, Bad Blood is the sequel to one of my favorite books, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. I personally like this book more than the first one. There are a couple reasons why:

I liked how it showed a bigger world than just Fairview. It shows different cities and people’s past. I liked how it showed a bigger variety of emotions than the first book.

This book is so good, exciting, thrilling, angering, sad, heartfelt, and so much more. It doesn’t keep you bored for one minute. I love how it is a true crime fiction but not too scary. If I were rating it, I would give it 5 out of 5.

This book is about Pip solving another case, but this time it is about one of her closest friends’ older brother Jamie Reynolds. After she started a true crime podcast with Ravi Singhs, it has gone viral....
