Donate to honor the memory of departed loved ones and support HaMakom.

The observance of Yahrzeit is a sacred mark of reverence for the beloved departed; remembering them imparts a dimension of sanctity to our lives as we join together to recite Kaddish at services. Our noble tradition also invites us to kindle a memorial candle at home, and to make a memorial offering in honor of the person who is being remembered.

Santa Fe Cemetery Remembrance Event, Sunday, August 30th

All are welcome

The Jewish Community Council of Northern New Mexico warmly invites you to join us in a cherished tradition: visiting the cemetery during the month of Elul to honor and remember our loved ones who have passed. This years 2026 community gathering to remember will be held on Sunday, August 30th, at 1:30 PM in the Jewish section of Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 417 Rodeo Road.

This one-hour Remembrance Service will be led by all four of Santa Fes congregational Rabbis and two Cantors. Carolyn Silver will share reflections on Jewish rituals of remembrance. Together, we will also hear the sound of the Shofar, honor the 30th anniversary of our Jewish cemetery, and unveil four new Memorial Plaques.

All are welcome to be part of this meaningful gathering of memory, reflection, and community.

Please also read "THE SANTA FE JEWISH CEMETERY: A CEMETERY OF AND FOR THE WHOLE COMMUNITY," that traces the history and community efforts to create this Jewish cemetery, in the current NM Jewish Journal.
