Dear Coalition Leaders, Teachers/School Administrators, and Prevention Stakeholders:
We continue to celebrate because October is National Youth Substance Use Prevention Month.
During this month, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) is featuring evidence-based prevention efforts across the country and highlighting resources you can use in your communities to be effective.
We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a webinar with our partners at Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to highlight their award-winning public education campaign, "The Real Cost."
The “The Real Cost” campaign aims to prevent youth from starting and continuing to use tobacco products. The e-cigarette and cigarette prevention campaign focuses on educating youth about the health consequences and risks associated with vaping and smoking. “The Real Cost” campaign was developed based on extensive research and uses a mix of marketing and advertising tactics across teen-relevant communication channels to reach youth audiences.
In addition, FDA will be sharing their newly released "Next Legends" youth e-cigarette prevention campaign that aims to educate American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) youth, ages 12-17, about the harms of vaping.
Please join us on Monday, October 24th at 2PM EST for a webinar titled FDA’s Public Education Efforts to Address Youth Vaping: “The Real Cost” Youth Campaign & “Next Legends” Campaign for American Indian and Alaska Native Youth by Ms. Alanna Biblow, MPH, CHES.
Ms. Alanna Biblow is a Health Communication Specialist within FDA's Office of Health Communication and Education's Center for Tobacco Products. Ms. Biblow's presentation is full of exciting resources you'll be able to use immediately.
