Harmony to open 2 new schools; expand five others
Harmony Public Schools has broken ground on two new campuses for Fall 2022: Harmony School of Excellence-Katy and Harmony School of Science-San Antonio. Both campuses will serve PreK-2 and Grade 6 in their first year, before expanding to PreK-7 in future years.
Additionally, five other campuses will expand with additional facilities in the near future. Those campuses are Harmony Science Academy-Cedar Park, Harmony School of Innovation-El Paso, Harmony School of Excellence-Houston, Harmony School of Innovation-Sugar Land, and Harmony School of Innovation-Katy.
Looking for an innovative way to bring learning to life for students both learning in the classroom or virtually, Harmony Public Schools-South Texas has piloted a new program that allows teachers to instruct from the state's most historical landmarks.

Throughout this year, teachers from across the district's San Antonio schools will provide video lessons from the city's iconic Alamo, and other history-rich places across Bexar County, including the World War II Museum, Holocaust Memorial Museum, and others.
Harmony has debuted a number of new and expanded makerspace labs at campuses. Check out how one of these labs is giving students an opportunity to foster their creativity and grow STEM skills.
To provide its employees with the resources they need to stay safe from COVID-19, Harmony extended its paid COVID leave through Spring 2022. The move was approved unanimously by the HPS Board.

Eight HPS seniors will receive "full ride" scholarships to some of the nation's top universities next fall after being named QuestBridge scholars.

QuestBridge is a nationwide program that connects high-achieving seniors from low-income backgrounds with full, four-year scholarships to top colleges. Only 0.04% of seniors are selected.

Harmony's QuestBridge students will attend Brown University, Dartmouth College, Emory University, Grinnell College, Rice University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Notre Dame.

GraduLet is a new program from Harmony Public Schools which allows anyone who failed to finish college earn a degree in as little as one year. Info sessions are held each Thursday. Financial aide is available.
The HSA-Pflugerville Esports team recently finished 16th in the nation in High School Esports League (HSEL). The team also recently were visited by the Esports team from Concordia University to learn more about college and career opportunities related to Esports.

Speaking of Esports, Harmony 8th grade gamer Benjamin Gonzalez recently finished second in the nation in Minecraft out of more than 500 competitors.
Jacob Norris, a senior at Harmony School of Innovation-Waco, spent most of 2021 as a NASA High School Aerospace Scholar (HAS). In the HAS program, scholars are mentored by NASA engineers and scientists who teach about NASA technologies and innovations, and offer guidance and inspiration on how to make the connection between STEM degrees and career fields. For Jacob, that means a dream career as an aerospace engineer working on rockets. Other activities in the HAS program include lessons on Earth science, technology, mathematics, and aeronautics. There are also design challenges, including 3D drawings, science and math quizzes, discussion posts, and technology writings…as well as virtual chats with NASA engineers and scientists.

Harmony held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-relocated Harmony Science Academy-Lubbock campus. "After such a unique school year, we are grateful that we have been able to welcome our students back to the classroom in a larger updated space that better fits their needs," said Principal Yunus Bicici. "By doing so, we have been able to provide even more learning and engagement opportunities for the students.

The Harmony School of Excellence-Dallas middle school volleyball team is now division champions. The team defeated IL- Texas for the Division Championship.
