Voters Must Adhere To New State Law Before Casting Absentee Ballot
Registered Chesterfield voters planning to cast an absentee ballot need to meet new requirements before returning their ballot either by mail or in a dropbox (located at all open polling locations),
Recent legislation (HB1948) removed the witness requirement for absentee ballots. Voters are now required to provide the last four digits of their social security number and their year of birth on the ballot envelope.
As stated on the Ballot Return Envelope, your ballot will not be counted if you do not fill in the Statement of Voter on the envelope completely.
Absentee ballots requested by registered Chesterfield County voters are currently being mailed to their respective residences.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the Nov. 7 General election is Oct. 27.
View more information about changes to absentee ballot return, and other information regarding the November General Election, at the Chesterfield General Registrar’s webpage.

Monacan High School Opens New Turf Field | |
|
After opening the 2023 season with three consecutive road games, Monacan High School’s football team finally christened its new turf field last Friday prior to its home opener against Cosby.
Monacan and L.C. Bird are the two Chesterfield high schools to have their grass playing surfaces replaced by turf this year.
The Board of Supervisors approved $2 million in local funding for each turf field conversion, including improvements to drainage and accessibility. Chesterfield Parks and Recreation managed the projects in coordination with CCPS staff.
The new Sprinturf Ultrablade fields are durable enough to be used year-round, eliminating downtime for grass growth, while significantly reducing the likelihood of having to postpone events because of inclement weather.
Learn more about the project in an article posted to the Chesterfield On Point blog or by watching a video of the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Social Services Launches New Online
Digital Housing Assistance Guide
| |
In response to rising levels of housing insecurity, the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services has created a digital housing assistance guide to help residents access critical resources at their convenience.
The guide can be found on the department’s web page. It includes information about emergency shelters for community members facing homelessness and in need of temporary residential assistance, income-based and supportive housing opportunities, housing options for people with criminal records, and educational programming on eviction prevention and diversion.
"We recognize that when residents are in crisis, they cannot wait to come into our office or call us during regular business hours to request assistance,” said Kiva Rogers, director of Social Services. “By putting this information on the website, we are enabling them to connect with resources when they need it most.”
