Mindful of the impact of inflation and rising property assessments on household finances, Chesterfield leaders remain intentional in their efforts to mitigate the local tax burden on all 365,000 county residents to the greatest degree possible.

As a result, the proposed fiscal year 2023 operating budget presented Wednesday by County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey has been balanced against the most sweeping array of tax relief measures in Chesterfield’s history, totaling approximately $52 million.

Here is a breakdown of the tax cuts that have been incorporated into the financial plan, which is expected to be voted on by the Board of Supervisors in April.
Following a March 8 community meeting, County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey presented a multi-faceted approach to address ongoing citizen concerns about the operations of a construction demolition debris landfill in the western Route 360 corridor.

A Heartwarming #CfieldKindness Story
“A very kind and generous woman paid for all of my groceries yesterday morning in the Kroger off of Hull Street. I don't usually shop there and didn't realize they didn't accept Apple Pay. I went to the car to get my card and when I came back in was told all of my groceries had been paid for. I asked who paid for them but was told that she'd already left.

A true act of kindness from one woman to another, and on National Women’s Day no less. I was so touched, and my hope is that she will somehow see this and know how appreciated she is.”

Thank you, Chelsea R. for submitting this story! If you or someone you know would like to submit a kindness story for a chance to be featured on our social media pages, please visit www.chesterfield.gov/kindness.

Adoptable Pet Spotlight
This handsome boy is Neo!

He is a young Shepherd mix, about two years old and weighs around 48 lbs. Neo is very athletic and loves being outside.

Want a walking partner, he's your guy! He loves to explore and sniff all the smells the outdoors have to offer. He could care less about treats and toys- he's more into people! Neo can be a bit dominant so, as always, a meet and greet is a must. He probably wouldn't do well with smaller dogs.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "0," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
