THIS MUCH I KNOW TO BE TRUE!
Watch as Nick Cave and Warren Ellis bring to life the songs from albums Ghosteen and Carnage on Wednesday, May 11th at 7PM
Shot on location in London & Brighton, Andrew Dominik’s new feature documentary THIS MUCH I KNOW TO BE TRUE captures Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ exceptional creative relationship as they bring to life the songs from their last two studio albums, Ghosteen (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds) and Carnage (Nick Cave & Warren Ellis). In this document of their first ever performances of these albums, filmed in spring 2021 ahead of their UK tour, we see the two, accompanied by singers and string quartet, as they nurture each song into existence. The film features a special appearance by close friend and long-term collaborator, Marianne Faithfull. Shot in color by Andrew Dominik and with cinematography by Robbie Ryan, THIS MUCH I KNOW TO BE TRUE is a companion piece to Dominik’s 2016 film ONE MORE TIME WITH FEELING. It reaches into the deep friendship and personal relationship between Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, something glimpsed in the 2014 Cave pseudo-documentary, 20,000 DAYS ON EARTH. The film will prove to be another significant moment in the journeys of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, capturing the mood and spirit of the pair as they move through a new, optimistic phase.

ABBA: THE MOVIE - FAN EVENT!
Have the time of your life when ABBA: The Movie dances back into movie theaters for a special two-day fan event Thursday, May 12th at 7PM and Saturday, May 14th at 3PM to celebrate 50 years since the Swedish pop sensation was formed and 45 years since the film’s original release!
In addition to this full-length film, this special event will also include a post-show sing-a-long featuring the official lyric videos for "Chiquitita", "Waterloo" and "Voulez-Vous"!

Captured by director Lasse Hallstrom during their mega-successful tour of Australia, the newly remastered film will take you on a flashback journey to the 1970s when disco reigned supreme and ABBA were royalty. Including backstage footage as well as full-length performances of some of ABBA's greatest hits including "Dancing Queen", "Tiger", "Name Of The Game" and "Eagle", the film provides a rare look at the hugely successful band during the height of their popularity. The subplot is a mocumentary-style story of a country radio disc-jockey who attempts to land an interview with the band. As deadlines loom – it is a slapstick mix of happenstance and error by the young DJ who is tasked with getting the coveted interview while ABBA's dedicated bodyguard does everything he can to stop it from happening.

OPENING FRIDAY AT YOUR SALEM CINEMA!
A timely, unflinching drama and the best reviewed film of the year so far, HAPPENING puts a personal face on an impossibly difficult choice.
"Sublime, in the truest sense of the word, it offers a take on the swinging 60s that contains images as gorgeous an anything in a Monet painting, as well as details so ugly you may keep forgetting to breathe." - Charlotte O'Sullivan, London Evening Standard

A triumph of immersive and emotion-filled storytelling, HAPPENING is a thoughtful and searing portrait of how women suffered – and continue to suffer – for the ability to make their own precious choices. In 1963 France, Anne, a promising young university student, is devastated when an unplanned pregnancy threatens to derail her future. She immediately insists on termination, but her physician warns of the unsparing laws against either seeking or aiding abortions, and her tentative attempts to reach out to her closest friends are nervously rebuffed. As weeks pass, without support or clear access, an increasingly desperate Anne unwaveringly persists in seeking any possible means of ending the pregnancy. Adapting Annie Ernaux’s memoir, director Audrey Diwan creates an expressively evocative period piece of undeniable current resonance. HAPPENING details not only the dangers and indignities of Anne’s harrowing quest but also how the surrounding indifference escalates her plight. This intimate, gripping drama is a resonant chronicle of the fight for personal freedom that should have been a lesson about a dark time in history, but instead threatens to be a chilling harbinger of our future.

A sweet swan song for director Roger Michell, THE DUKE is an irresistibly amusing, disarmingly winsome, true-life crowd pleaser!
"Jim Broadbent is priceless in this canny, tender British comedy, based on a real-life art heist that bamboozled the police, as well as the scriptwriters of Bond adventure Dr. No." - Charlotte O'Sullivan, London Evening Standard

A combination of understated and clever situational humor, political commentary and character study, THE DUKE is a gentle, affable dramedy starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. In 1961, Kempton Bunton, a 60-year old taxi driver, stole Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. It was the first (and remains the only) theft in the Gallery's history. Kempton sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on the condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly. What happened next became the stuff of legends. Not until fifty years later did the full story, and Kempton's web of lies, emerge. The only truth was that he was a good man, determined to change the world and save his marriage – how and why he used the Duke to achieve that is a wonderfully uplifting tale. This warm and quietly subversive movie is a sweet-natured, lively and engaging surprise package!

Deeply impactful, PETITE MAMAN is a delicate, tender and poignant meditation on loss and family bonds.
"There’s no fluff, just an unusual exploration of the mother-daughter bond -- and this stunning premise: What would a child encounter if they met their parent as a youth? The answer is an emotional experience like no other." - Thelma Adams, AARP Movies for Grownups

Celine Sciamma (PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE) has made another fascinating, sentimental masterpiece – a very memorable drama with an insightful and endearing look at parent-child relationships and how personalities are formed in childhood. After her grandmother dies, Nelly (Joséphine Sanz) is taken to her mother's childhood home. While her parents go about cleaning out the house, Nelly explores the surrounding woods. She encounters Marion (Gabrielle Sanz), a girl exactly Nelly's age and to whom she bears a striking resemblance. The pair become fast friends, constructing a hut together, sharing lunches, and talking over life transitions. Incrementally, the girls' eerie similarities yield revelations that merge events of the past with those of the present. PETITE MAMAN is a seemingly small film that resonates with immense beauty and power.

From visionary director Robert Eggers comes THE NORTHMAN, an action-filled epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder!
"The Northman is spectacular. It’s surprisingly Eggers’ most accessible film, but no less immersive in its authentic feel. It’s a gripping revenge story that keeps its hand around your throat." - Eric Eisenberg, Cinemablend

One of the most highly-anticipated movies of the year, THE NORTHMAN, from writer-director Robert Eggers (THE WITCH, THE LIGHTHOUSE), tells a Viking revenge story based on the same Scandinavian folk tale that inspired Shakespeare’s Hamlet. After young Amleth witnesses his father being murdered by his uncle Fjölnir, the Viking prince escapes his homeland and vows to seek revenge and justice for his deceased father. Brutal, audacious and staggeringly beautiful, this ferocious and cinematic work of art is the perfect merger of otherworldly Norse mythology and bloodthirsty, powerful Viking history. It is an immersive, epic masterpiece meant for the big screen! The star-studded cast includes Ethan Hawke, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe, Claes Bang, Björk and Alexander Skarsgard – who is an absolute beast as the grown Amleth.

"A dazzlingly kaleidoscopic adventure that is genuinely thrilling and often hilarious, with sensational martial arts fights in an always-astounding array of settings, with a roller coaster of surprising twists and turns that hold up on repeated viewings." - Nell Minow, Movie Mom
More audaciously expansive, adventurous and wildly unique than even its title suggests, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE is the cinematic experience audiences have been craving! When an interdimensional rupture unravels reality, she must channel her newfound powers to fight bizarre and bewildering dangers as the fate of the world hangs in the balance.
