We celebrated 25 years of service with our clients, collaborators, and staff with a 'Week of Appreciation' August 14th - 18th.  At each of our weekly stops, we gave out goodie bags, healthy snacks, and water bottles.  Many  thanks to our local Stop & Shop South Bay, Stop & Shop Roxbury, Tropical Foods, America's Food Basket, our community, and staff for helping fill our goodie bags!

"Zip code is as strongly associated with health as genetic code. Open your eyes wide and learn what your patient's world is about, learn from them how you can best help them help themselves," Dr. Nancy Oriol, HMS Faculty Associate Dean for Community Engagement in Medical Education and Family Van Founder

Dr. Elie Joseph, a dentist who works with the Saint Apollonia Mobile Dental Clinic in Haiti, spent a week with us as a  current Community Solutions Program Fellow under Dr. Jane Barrow at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. This experience allowed him to  observe the ways that mobile health units in the U.S. work as part of the larger health care system.

In celebration of our 25th Anniversary we put together a cookbook to celebrate the diversity of our community of clients, volunteers, and staff.  If you would like to own your own copy we ask that you  send us a donation   of $25 or more. If you already have your copy, please send a photo of a recipe you prepared and we will post it on our facebook page!  You can email it to

Mobile Health Map is one of our important resources that started right here with folks from The Family Van!

The project started out of the recognition that mobile clinics are an important healthcare resource and the idea to develop a collaborative research network of community-based mobile health clinics. Mobile Health Map offers an interactive map of mobile clinics all around the country; a portal of tools & resources for mobile clinics to get information and show their success; and a network that tracks and shows the impact of mobile health clinics within the larger healthcare system.
