Weekly eBlast February 10, 2021
Worship With Us
This Sunday Steve will be preaching in a pre-recorded service! Sermon title: Jesus, Power and Violence (Chapter 25 in We Make the Road by Walking)

Join us online at www.columbineunited.church, Facebook or YouTube.
This Fall we are tracking with the book We Make the Road by Walking by Brian McLaren.
Want a free copy of this book?
Email Natalie@columbineunitedchurch.org and we can drop one off at your convenience

Listen to the book... we are going chapter by chapter reading it aloud. Each Podcast is 10-15 minutes long so it’s an easy listen.
This past weekend we took time for a Congregational Conversation with updates around the topics of COVID, church life, missions, youth and families, the building, and general funding. We have posted this hour-long conversation on Youtube for you to listen to if you missed it. Let us know if you have any questions. We plan to do building tours again in the coming months.
Here is a brief message from our CUC church council on these topics:
Next Wednesday, February 17, is Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of the season of LENT. Lent is a season of reflection.

There will be a special Ash Wednesday service Live on Zoom at 6:30 PM.
Jill and Samantha will also be out at Clement Park (in the circle drive up the hill to the south of the library) 8:30-9:30 PM with drive-through “Ashes to GO”.

You can drive up, roll down the windows and they will put ashes on your forehead. Jill will wear a robe so it is easy to find them.
(This is Jill offering Ashes to go 3 years ago in Michigan….when it felt like 10 below with wind chill!)
Ways to get Connected
Are you separated this Valentine's Day from those you care about even though they live nearby? The youth can help!
Connect with a Valentine's Day Basket (Youth Fundraiser)!
TODAY February 10 is the last day to order

Help the youth group raise money for their mission trips by purchasing Valentine’s Day baskets for a loved one or friend! The basket will contain candy, goodies, and lots of love. The youth group will put together these baskets to be delivered locally (within 20 miles) on February 13th. The cost is $40 per basket. Thank you for your support!
Sunday Morning Adult Education: On Sunday February 14, Ad Ed continues the series to recognize and honor Black History Month. Through Joseph, our minister of worship and music, we will explore the historical significance and current day ramifications of select genres of Black music both inside and outside of the church. The presentation will include anonymous feedback from participants about listening examples, quotations from academic scholarship and pop culture, and Joseph's commentary. Discussion will be aimed at foregrounding issues concerning the usage and purpose of black music within the corporate worship culture of CUC.
Please join us from 9:30-10:30AM. Use the Zoom link provided.
The CUC Men’s Poker group plays every Thursday evening online at 7:00 PM. It is free and we only play for bragging rights. If interested please contact Tom Rehling (tomrehling@me.com) for more information.
Tuesday Mornings Faith Forum 9:30-11:30 a.m:  There will be no Faith Forum class on Tuesday, February 16. Classes will resume on February 23.
Youth and Families
Calling all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders! Join us on February 25 at 5:30 on Zoom to help us plan for the church's Maundy Thursday gathering. We need your help researching and preparing a Seder Meal for families. We will discuss the importance of Lent and figure out how we can help others do the same!
