Library Trustee Openings
There will be two vacancies on the Library’s Board of Trustees. Persons interested in serving on the Board are invited to pick up petitions at the Library’s Circulation Desk beginning Monday July 19, 2021. Petitions with a minimum of 25 names must be submitted to the Director of the Library no later than August 13, 2021. At the September Budget Vote, names of the candidates who have submitted petitions will appear on the ballot and the community will cast votes for Library Trustees. New Trustees will begin their 3-year terms in November 2021.
Virtual Events for Adults
Adult Crafts
Come in to the Reference Desk and present your Mattituck-Laurel Library card to select a lighthouse or sunflower paint-by-number kit ($5 each). New beach glass art kits are now also available ($10 each).

All kits are available on a
first come first serve basis.
If you have a purchased any paint-by-numbers kit from us (recently or in the past), we would love to see a picture of the finished product and post it to our Facebook page! Please email your picture to reference@mattlibrary.org with the subject "Paint by Numbers Picture"
Art Challenge

We have two art challenges, which have been extended to August 15!

Arrange different items of clothing to create your favorite work of art!

Re-create your favorite work of art using as few household items as possible.

Youth and Parenting Department
All grab and go crafts and activities are inside now. Stop by Monday through Friday 9am-7:30pm.
We are on our way, goodbye Africa and onto Asia. New crafts and activities based on the new continent this week. Here is a sample of week six for the youngest then older elementary.
Sign up for the reading club and make your weekly guess of items in the guessing jar. The closest without going over wins a gift card to Magic Fountain!

Monday August 2, Grab and Go weekly kits for those who have signed up.
Monday August 2, If you Give a Dog a "decorated" Donut with Chef Rob. Join us to decorate a donut and listen to a story. Pictures are available with the large Character Dog. The 10am class is now filled. Call if you have a preschooler and want to attend the 11am class. There is plenty of room.
Monday August 2 at 3:30pm and 4:30pm Game Days with Miss Elizabeth and Miss Kait, for those who are registered.
Wednesday August 4 at 3:30pm Family Storytime. We will share the book Tiny Little Fly by Michael Rosen.

Enjoy decorating your own ocean-themed jumbo cookie compliments of Chef Rob. Includes a jumbo cookie, gummy sharks, goldfish crackers, Swedish Fish, graham crackers and rock candy. This is a grab-and-go kit. An instructional video will be provided to all participants.

Sea Tails Scrimshaw Keepsake Boxes

Discover how mariners told their stories in scrimshaw, a folk art on carved whalebone and teeth. Try your hand at carving scrimshaw as you sketch, carve, and ink a scrimshaw-style keepsake box. This is a grab-and-go program. Instructional video will be emailed to all participants. This program is brought to you by the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum.
