Happenings @ St. David's

Christ has died, Christ is Risen, Christ will come again. This is the mystery of faith as proclaimed in one of our Communion prayers. This Advent season, set aside a little time each day to reflect on Jesus who lived, died and was Resurrected; Christ who is present in and through each of us today; and Christ who will come again, at the end of our lives and at the end of time. How and when might you find a little time each day?

We have so much going on at St. David’s this Advent and look forward to seeing you. Have a blessed week and Advent!

Faithfully yours,

Fr. Will

#AdventWord 2018
We invite you to sign up for #AdventWord2018 from Virginia Theological Seminary which gives you a word and meditation each day during the season of Advent. The short meditation and visuals begin on the first Sunday of Advent and end on Christmas Day. Sent out each morning via email, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook; communities are found on each platform posting, responding, liking, and sharing. With this word and material, we offer you the exercise of reading the word and meditation/readings in the morning and in the evening (when you light your Advent wreath) discuss the word and what it meant to you that day. Let your Advent journey to Christmas begin with this resource! 2019 Vestry Nominations
Passion! Commitment! Leadership! That's what we're looking for in our 2019 Vestry Candidates. During our Parish Annual Meeting on Sunday, 1/27/19, elections will be held to fill several positions on the Vestry. Information regarding Vestry service is available on the website. We also encourage you to discuss this opportunity with any Vestry member. Serving on the Vestry is an opportunity to not only serve as representatives of your fellow parishioners, but it also provides the opportunity for a deep spiritual growth that we would love to share with you. If you are interested in serving or would like to nominate a fellow parishioner, please contact Theresa Luby at tluby@sdlife.org . Deadline for nominations is Tuesday, 12/11.
Welcoming Ministry
Wreaths Across America
We are looking for volunteers at all three services to help with welcoming newcomers to St. David’s both as greeters (before the service) and welcome desk volunteers (after the service). No experience is necessary, just a desire to make all guests who visit feel especially welcome. Training will be provided. If interested please send your contact information to welcome@sdlife.org.
St. David’s will be participating in Wreaths Across America at Arlington Cemetery on Saturday, 12/15. We will join others in the moving experience of laying wreaths on the graves to remember our fallen veterans, honor those who currently serve in our military, and teach our children the value of freedom. Adults, youth, families and friends of St. David’s are invited to join.   Click here to sign up
