Happenings at St. David's

Greetings

This Sunday is the end of the season of Epiphany and we mark this time with the Feast of the Transfiguration as we anticipate the coming of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Jesus and his inner circle of disciples climb Mount Tabor and witness Jesus in all his glory as God’s beloved Son. This story is about change. As Christians, we are called to embrace the change God asks of us. Why? Because we become stagnant and mired down in the past if we refuse to change. It is not possible to move forward without letting go of the past. To be a follower of Jesus means we are always moving forward, relying on the Holy Spirit to guide us and show us the way.

Peace,

Susan+

Phishing Scam

There are some very sophisticated phishing scams currently circulating on the internet and we would like to make all St. David's members aware of a recent scam involving emails appearing to be the Church asking for money. Please be aware that the Church and Reverend Susan would never request money or gift cards from members via email. If you receive correspondence that appears 'phishy' please always take the following steps.

  1. Check the sender's email address and confirm if it is indeed the correct email address. Oftentimes phishing scams are not the proper address and have a number or letter different.
  2. Always remember just because you received a phishing email it does not automatically mean your computer has been hacked.

Please visit the following website here for further information on phishing scams and always be aware if you receive an email from St. David's and it does not seem proper call the main office and we can assist!

Messy Church Shrove Tuesday & Mardi Gras Celebration 2/21

What do pancakes have to do with Jesus? It’s the last chance for a spot of indulgence before the 40 days that represent the time that Jesus spent fasting in the desert where he resisted the temptation of Satan. Lent is 40 days of reflection and following the story of Jesus leading up to his death and resurrection.

Join us Tuesday, February 21st, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm in the Narthex for a pre-lenten celebration of faith, Mardi Gras fun, live music, pancakes, hands on activities, burning of the palms and a bible story as we usher in Lent.

Messy Church is church. Messy church is fun. Messy Church is for all ages.
