Happenings at St. David's

Dear ones, We pray that you are well and continue to pray for all our St. David's family as we adjust to daily changes in the shape of our lives, our communities and our nation. Although so much around us has stopped, the work of the church continues! I hope you've been joining us for virtual worship on Sundays at 10. I miss your physical presence but the Holy Spirit connects us in this special time. Your pastoral care team is organizing contacts with everyone in our data base to check in, provide support and help you stay connected. Staff is working from home but available by phone or email.

Our adult choir director, Jack Walton, has moved with his wife Sherri to Austin Texas. Jack and Sherri had been pondering the move to be near their grandson, Eli. Their timetable was moved up precipitously by the social upheaval we are experiencing. We will miss Jack's expertise in the choir loft, in the office and especially will miss his enthusiasm for recruiting new choir members! Jack and Sherri, we are sorry we could not give you a proper goodbye. Blessings in your new home.

Last Sunday in our gospel, Jesus restored the sight of a man who had been blind since birth. The Pharisees could not see the miracle right in front of them. They were too busy asking questions and pointing fingers. How often do we miss God's work in front of us because we are too busy, too distracted, or too afraid? How often are we blind?

Some might call this an apocalyptic time - a time of revealing, seeing things as they really are. Perhaps God is opening our eyes to see how connected we all are, to see how fragile we are and how we need one another. Perhaps God is deepening our compassion, mercy and patience with one another. God did not cause this crisis, but God can work for good in the midst of it.

All around us we are seeing signs of God's love and mercy. Take a picture and send it to us!

Holy Week & Easter

Youth Ministry
We will gather on Zoom at this link Sunday at 4:30. We will hear from everyone and see how they are doing. It will also be an opportunity to ask Fr. Will and the adults questions about what is going on and God in the midst of everything. You may also join us on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon prayer at 1 pm on the youth Instagram account @sdyg_ashburn.
Kid's Corner
This past Sunday we were asked by Rev. Mary Kay to send in photos of instances where we "see God” during this time of pandemic. God is everywhere and in all things. Just like the blind man who could see, his eyes were made well and able to see the world in a new way. How are you seeing God show up in new ways as so much is changing in our lives.
