Happenings at St. David's
In our gospel last Sunday, Jesus is shaking things up, breaking Sabbath rules, healing and forgiving sins. Some are happy about this, but those who are comfortable with the way things are - namely, his family, and the church people- are upset. Jesus changes things. He doesn’t apologize about it either. He is about his Father’s business and nothing will distract or sway him. He will include everyone, he will heal everyone, and he will upend systems that create division and inequity. He changed the world that way.

Jesus is still challenging us today. Will we resist, or trust his loving, life changing lead?

Service Under the Stars
This summer we’re creating something special. It’s called Service Under the Stars, and we’re excited to announce that it’ll be a monthly single outdoor prayer service with music on June 9th, July 14th and August 11th. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors – be sure to bring your lawn chairs, blankets and individual s'more fixins! Service will be at 7:30 pm around the fire pit, but be sure to get there early to set up your space and make your own s’mores. Contact mcarey@sdlife.org with any questions.
Name Badge Order
As we gather in person once again, remember to wear your name badge! If you have never received one, or have misplaced yours, contact Karen at office@sdlife.org. First time name badges are free, replacements are $6.
Raising Awareness of St. David’s
In many ways, St. David’s continues to be a well-kept secret. An oasis of caring and loving people in the midst of hectic Loudoun County. Although we’ve gone from a dirt road access to a paved parkway, we are still somewhat off the beaten path. We need some creative thinking in how best to spread the word about St. David’s. If you have talent in marketing and/or communications or just an off-the-wall idea or two, we’d welcome your input.  The commitment of time is roughly two hours a month to be part of the Marketing and Communications Committee. Interested? Please reach out to David Sheatsley at dsheatsley@sdlife.org.
39 Paces
Depending on your stride, there are approximately 39 paces leading from the preschool sidewalk to the Columbarium located outside the windows at the front of St. David’s. The journey just got a little easier. A sidewalk now exists, replacing an often taxing walk over a grassy and somewhat uneven terrain to visit loved ones and friends resting comfortably in the Columbarium. Responding to a request from one of our parishioners, the Vestry approved funding for and the Trustees managed the bid process and construction of the sidewalk last month -- as soon as the weather cooperated. Many thanks to Trustee, Chris Smith, for overseeing the project and for making pilgrimages to the Columbarium that much easier. Any questions or comments please send them to Trustees@sdlife.org.
