WELLNESS PICK OF THE MONTH

Ease-In Workouts

A good wellness routine doesn’t have to go from zero to 60 in a day. You can ease into a workout—go slow, use a chair or participate virtually. New Castle County offers a broad range of wellness programs, which means you don't need a gym membership or a commitment to work out: many activities are drop-in / pay-as-you-go.

Try a Virtual Senior Program (for all ages, really!) such as Tai Chi, dance or yoga and get fit right in your own home.

Garfield Park Rec Center offers Yes, U Can, a staff-assisted, drop-in exercise program for adults with limited mobility or a physical disability (wheelchair friendly). Hockessin Rec Center offers ABC – Agility, Balance and Coordination, to adults for whom seated exercises work best, and Strike a Balance, a group fitness class combining strength training with core and balance exercises and some cardiovascular work.

Try a monthly combination Yin Yoga and Meditation class at Brandywine Rec Center. You can also experience a Guided Meditation amongst beautiful surroundings at Rockwood Park and Museum. (See below for all the monthly and weekly yoga classes New Castle County offers.)

Glasgow Park is home to a University of Delaware Walk+Roll program run by CPR-certified leaders, consisting of a warm-up, light stretching, a walking/rolling session and a cool down.

New Castle County recreation centers offer access to exercise equipment such as treadmills and indoor walking tracks.

Get moving...at your own pace.
