Season of Giving – Libraries!

The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation, with our school-based affiliates, is dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for students in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

This time of the year is a significant time for non-profit fundraising. The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation will once again, encourage donors to support Education during our Annual Season of Giving Campaign. Industry wide among non-profits, over 30% of annual donations occur between Thanksgiving and the new year with most of those gifts occurring in the final three days of the year.

Every year SRVEF, working with SRVUSD leadership, selects a theme for our annual campaign. This year, that theme will be supporting our school libraries. The school library plays an important role in preparing students to live and learn in a world of information by:

  • School libraries offer a safe and nurturing climate during the day, as well as before and after school.
  • School librarians connect other educators to current trends and resources for teaching and learning. They are essential partners for all teachers, providing print and digital materials that meet diverse needs and offering opportunities to deepen student learning.
  • School library programs foster critical thinking, providing students with the skills they need to analyze and communicate ideas in compelling ways.
  • School libraries are learning hubs and homework help centers where students can use technology to find the best information resources.

With the increased use of technology at an even younger age, access to strong school library programs is more important than ever. In today’s environment, learning to discern good information from opinion is more important than ever.

Teacher Grants

SRVEF is currently reviewing over 200 Teacher Grants submitted during our window of October 1 – October 31. There are an additional 100 Teacher Grants that do not meet SRVEF criteria but are still worthy of funding.

You can look at all the SRVUSD Grants submitted, including those that are not eligible for SRVEF Funding by clicking here or visiting www.DonorsChoose.org. If you see a grant that resonates with you, please consider helping to fund the grant. Every grant request will fill a critical need, identified by our Educators.
