Where Does the Money Go??

The question many people ask - where does the money from the Run for Education go??

100% of the revenue from The Run supports the education of every SRVUSD student!

Yes, really!!! The revenue earned from Run for Education registrations and donations is split between the schools and the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF).

The funds that go to the individual schools are used for items needed at THEIR school. Here are some ways our schools used the proceeds:

  • Books focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Walkie talkies
  • Community bulletin boards
  • Outdoor, oversized games

The funds that go to SRVEF are used to supplement funding for district-wide needs, that impact ALL students:

  • Hands on science kits for K-2nd
  • Elementary School Maker spaces
  • Musical instruments for middle and high school
  • Teacher grants for all levels
  • STEAM enrichment

So don’t delay, register today! The 2021 Run for Education is NOW OPEN! Questions? Contact Karen Robman at karen@srvef.org.

The Show:

Consider yourself at home with Oliver! JR, the Broadway Junior version of Lionel Bart's classic musical based on Charles Dickens' novel, Oliver Twist. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike.

The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.

Oliver! JR is full of classic songs like "Consider Yourself", "Food Glorious Food", and "Oom-Pah-Pah", and perfectly showcases the talents of a large ensemble cast.

In this course, students will audition for, rehearse, and perform the musical Oliver! JR. This course will develop acting, singing and dancing skills as students work collaboratively to create a show. Students will be “double cast” (two actors per role) but will perform in all shows. When not performing their main role, students will perform in the ensemble. Due to the cumulative and collaborative nature of performance, participants need to be committed to the class, attend regularly and be available for all Saturday Rehearsals and Performances. Additionally, no refunds will be allowed once the show has been cast.

Introducing SRVEF Board Member...Rob Stockberger

It is an honor to serve on the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation Board of Directors. I was born and raised here, attending Green Valley, Vista Grande, Los Cerros and Monte Vista. My wife, Susan, attended Country Club, Charlotte Wood and San Ramon Valley. Our two children, Kevin and Katie attended Vista Grande, Los Cerros and Monte Vista.

I had the good fortune to teach, coach, and serve as an administrator with the SRVUSD. I started my career in 1978 teaching physical education, health, and math at Monte Vista and Cal High. I also coached football, baseball, soccer, and golf.

I then moved into administration in 1990 serving as San Ramon Valley Assistant Principal, Cal High Principal, and on to the SRVUSD District Office as Director of Secondary Education. Lastly, I moved on to serve as John Swett Unified Schools Superintendent prior to retiring in 2017.

I am proud to serve on the SRVEF Board as a means to give back to my school district and community. I am truly grateful for the education my family and I received from SRVUSD schools!

And Finally, a Note from Gary Alpert,

President of SRVEF Board of Directors

Happy September!

September means we are just a few weeks away from the 38th Annual Run for Education!

If you haven’t registered, there is still time. Visit srvef.org/the-run and sign up today. As we are Virtual, you can pick the distance and run when you want. We are encouraging everyone to sign up today and finish by October 10th (our traditional date).

Need some reasons to register? Here are my top ten:

10) It’s a San Ramon Valley tradition. If you have been participating for years (and we know that there are many 37-year veterans), don’t stop now. If you’ve never participated, start this year.

9) It’s Virtual! The 2021 Run will be Virtual, where you can run, jog, walk or roll for the distance of your choosing. You can choose when and where.

8) Registration is easy – One event. One Registration fee. Simply go to srvef.org/the-run.

7) The low registration price of $25 includes an SRVEF mask or cape!

6) Shirts are available – you can optionally order a shirt to keep your collection up to date!

5) Walking is now considered one of the best ways to exercise. Did you know that 5K is right around 6,200 Steps. Are you trying to walk 10,000 steps/day? The Run for Education will help you get there, while helping your schools at the same time. What’s not to like?

4) It’s a fundraising opportunity for the school of your choice, with 30% of registration net proceeds going directly to the school of your choice. The balance will go to the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation.

3) You can raise more money for your school by using the Pledge Page that will automatically be created for you, with 70% of those donations going directly to your school. It’s easy to ask your friends or relatives to also help.

2) The funds raised directly benefit our schools and help fund programs, activities, and supplies not otherwise possible.  And the funds raised by the Foundation helps fund District-Wide programs such as Teacher Professional Development, Music Education, Science Alliance, Generation Citizen, and many others.

1) It’s fun family activity that’s also healthy and helps our students!

Don’t wait – register now at srvef.org/the-run.
