Reformation Sunday

Scripture Readings for October 25, 2026
Rooted in the past and growing into the future, the church must always be reformed in order to live out the love of Christ in an ever-changing world. We celebrate the good news of God’s grace, that Jesus Christ sets us free every day to do this life-transforming work. Trusting in the freedom given to us in baptism, we pray for the church, that Christians will unite more fully in worship and mission.
Jeremiah 31:31-34; Psalm 46; Romans 3:19-28; John 8:31-36

Grace and peace to you brothers and sisters in Christ!
How can the reformation, something that happened 509 years ago, bear any meaning or significance for us today? I would argue that there are many other things that happened 2000 years ago in Jesus' life, death and resurrection that bear much more significance to us in our faith.
So why is the reformation worth remembering? Is it simply a chance to brag about our Lutheran heritage?
For me, the reformation is another story of faith, alongside the many stories of faith that we hear in the scriptures. The reformation is a real life example of how even after Jesus died and rose again, the body of Christ, the Christian church on earth, was open to reading God's word and letting the Holy Spirit move through that word to breathe new life into the church. These Christians trusted in God even when they didn't know what the future held, and took faithful steps each day praying, "thy will be done."
As a Christian today in the midst of so much turmoil in our world around us and within our own country, in the midst of so much use of God's name all around us yet so many who are being hurt by the church or who have never been told about God's love, the story of the Reformation gives me hope that even though the present and future of the body of Christ may feel unknown, the Holy Spirit is alive and well, and it is this Holy Spirit that still calls, gathers and enlightens the whole Christian church on earth and keeps us in the true faith.
Join us this Sunday as we remember that Holy Spirit by wearing our red colors to church. We are excited to welcome new members to Hutto Lutheran Church worship and share a welcome potluck meal after church.
Grateful to be joined with you together in the body of Christ as we follow the call of the Holy Spirit in this journey of faith.
God’s peace,
Pastor Amanda

Glynda Vanecek's Retirement
After more than 20 years of faithfully filling the sanctuary of Hutto Lutheran Church with beautiful music, our organist, Glynda Vanaček, is retiring. Week after week, Glynda’s playing has led our praise, lifted our spirits, and enriched our worship services in ways words can hardly express.
As we give thanks for her two decades of dedicated service, leadership, and heart, we invite everyone to stop by the table in the Narthex to sign a thank-you card for Glynda. Please take a moment to share a fond memory or a word of gratitude to bless her in this next season!
