Scripture Readings for May 10, 2026
Jesus does not abandon his followers. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus comes to abide with his disciples of every generation. As Pentecost draws near, we are reminded that the risen Christ dwells in us as the Spirit of truth. We receive this Spirit in baptism and pray that in our gathering around the Lord’s table the Spirit will transform us to be the body of the risen Christ in the world.
Acts 17:22-31; Psalm 66:8-20; 1 Peter 3:13-22; John 14:15-21

Grace and peace to you!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Isaiah 52:7
In many ways it is hard to believe that another program year is coming to a close. My heart is filled with gratitude to all of you for the ways that we have been able to walk alongside each other, share our faith and learn about God together.
Many thanks to all who made this program year possible: to the adult Sunday school and Bible study leaders, high school teachers, confirmation mentors, upper and lower elementary teachers, Sunday School Round Up leaders, wiggle time leaders, and Storytime in the park leaders.
Thank you for saying yes. Thank you for the many ways you have given of yourself to create space for God to show up. Thank you for the relationships you have helped form and nurture and for making space for people to grow in their faith. By your presence you have helped others feel seen and heard and to experience the love of God.
Looking forward to a celebration on May 17th for the children and youth for the end of our program year!
God’s peace,
Pastor Amanda

Caring for our Sanctuary
Hello HLC family! We are on an important mission to preserve our historic church building, including keeping our sanctuary clean and cared for.
We appreciate the use of non-spill/sealed cups when bringing beverages inside the sanctuary and helping with quick spot-cleaning if needed. Our ushers are always available to assist before, during or after service.
Thank you for helping care for this sacred space we share.
Many Blessings.

Financial Status
The Financial Status of HLC as of the end of March 2026:
Total expenditures $60,108
Total income $66,044
Income over expenses by $5,936
Operating Account Balance: As of the end of March we have $45,172 available for paying expenses. We also have $40,255 in a savings account available when needed for paying bills if our Operating Account gets low.
Vision Fund balance: $20,176.18 This is as of the end of 2025. We haven't received the statement yet for the 1st quarter of 2026. The quarterly statement usually comes in mid-month of the month following the end of the quarter. We did send contributions of $2,372.71 to the Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest for contributions during the first quarter of 2026.
Capital Improvement: Our balance available in the Operating Account is $3,839 and $26,569 in a savings account available when needed for paying Capital Improvement expenses. We have had a couple large expenses in March using these funds. The electrical work done in the Sanctuary and new flooring in the 502 Ministry Center.
The Operating Account is very healthy. The Insurance will be coming due the first part of May, so that will be taking a large chunk out of our balance. We are looking good for the payments. Should have balances showing those payments mid-month in May.
If you have any questions about our Financial Status, please contact Rodney Westphal.
