Scripture Readings for September 13, 2026
In today’s second reading Paul questions why we judge one another, since we all stand before the judgment of God. Yet we do sin against one another, and Jesus’ challenge that we forgive seventy-seven times reveals God’s boundless mercy. When we hear the words of forgiveness in worship and sign ourselves with the cross, we are renewed in baptism to be signs of reconciliation in the world.
Genesis 50:15-21; Psalm 103:[1-7] 8-13; Romans 14:1-12; Matthew 18:21-35

Grace and peace to you!
This upcoming Sunday we join with Lutherans across the country participating in God's Work Our Hands Sunday.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) launched the initiative on September 8, 2013, as a nationwide day of community service to mark and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ELCA's formation from its Lutheran predecessor bodies.
God's work our hands Sunday encourages thousands of congregations across the United States to step outside the church walls and perform hands-on service projects in their local communities. As Lutherans we believe that salvation is a free gift from God through grace, freeing believers to go out into the world and actively serve their neighbors.
The video below includes a special greeting from the presiding bishop of the ELCA as we prepare for this day.
On this day we are reminded of the beauty of the body of Christ. We are reminded that not only do each of us have unique gifts to use at Hutto Lutheran, but Hutto Lutheran has unique gifts that we offer that make up part of the work that is done throughout the whole body of Christ. Jesus' body is no longer physically in this world, but together we are the hands and feet of Christ.
Join us this Sunday as we worship God together, offer items for the Hutto Resource Center and design quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief and Chrismonds for our HLC Christmas tree.
Giving thanks for the any ways you are one body in Christ sent in faith to share the love of God through worship, service, fellowship and witness!
God’s peace,
Pastor Amanda
