Scripture Readings for February 8, 2026
Light shines in the darkness for the upright, the psalmist sings. Isaiah declares that when we loose the bonds of injustice and share our bread with the hungry, the light breaks forth like the dawn. In another passage from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus, the light of the world, calls his followers to let the light of their good works shine before others. Through baptism we are sent into the world to shine with the light of Christ.
Isaiah 58:1-12; Psalm 112:1-10; 1 Corinthians 2:1-16; Matthew 5:13-20

Grace and peace to you,
What a gift to get to worship together after a week of being apart!
In all of my years serving as a pastor and even my years attending church, this past Sunday was by far my favorite annual meeting Sunday. The idea of an annual gathering of a congregation holds so much promise to speak to the past year of ministry. But somehow a business meeting always seems to fall short of achieving that.
Many thanks to each of you who spent time and energy putting words to your faith, and to how you have seen God moving at Hutto Lutheran. Even though we do so much together, there are some things I heard spoken that I had never thought about before. Your stories were important ones for us to hear. I had goosebumps the whole time listening to you share.
As I heard the stories being shared I thought of even more stories to add to those and I imagine each of you could as well. So grateful to each of you for the ways you give of yourself to be one body in Christ sent in faith to share the love of God through worship, service, fellowship and witness!
God’s peace,
Pastor Amanda
