Paraments color: WHITE
Scripture Readings for April 5, 2026
This is the day the Lord has made! Christ is risen, and through him all creation is made new! Indeed, “God shows no partiality” (Acts 10:34): Christ’s resurrection truly brings life to everyone. We sing hymns of praise, gather around sacred words, and proclaim God’s faithfulness, power, and love in the feast of holy communion. With the women at the tomb, we are astonished, elated, and grateful. We depart with joy to proclaim the good news of God’s endless love.
Acts 10:34-43; Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24; Colossians 3:1-4; Matthew 28:1-10

Grace and peace to you on this holiest of weeks,
What does your week look like? When I look around me this week I see such a spectrum of things: there is the regular humming and droning of daily life, the extra rush of activity that comes with holy week, all against the backdrop of much suffering, turmoil and anxiety.
Deep down under the surface of all that could easily fill this week, there is a yearning within my soul. It is the same yearning that aches deep within as I experience the death of someone I love, or stand face to face with the truth of my brokenness and sin. Deep within my soul, I yearn to hear the promise, to be reminded once again of how God shows up in the story.
Have you ever heard the old hymn, “I love to tell the story?” The words of that hymn come to mind today to give voice to that deepest of yearnings in my soul.
“I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.”
My prayer for myself and for all of us is that someway, somehow in the course of this week, whether in the midst of the sanctuary, or a quiet moment of prayer, or driving down the road, deep down inside we may have ears to hear the story of our God who created each unique person, and loved this world enough to come to this earth and walk amongst us – to experience our pain and suffering, and to experience the worst that our world had to offer – death on a cross so that nothing could separate us from God’s love.
God’s peace,
Pastor Amanda

Walking the Way of the Cross, Holding Fast to Hope
Beloved in Christ,
As we enter Holy Week, we do so carrying a great deal—some of it visible, much of it not. The suffering in our world is hard to ignore: violence that continues, communities under strain, and deep divisions that feel both wearying and unresolved. Closer to home, there are burdens in our own country and in our own lives that weigh heavily—grief, uncertainty, and the quiet struggles that don’t often get named out loud. Holy Week makes space for all of it. It does not ask us to look away or to tidy things up. Instead, it draws us into the story of a God who meets us right in the midst of it. In Jesus’ journey to the cross, we see a love that does not avoid suffering, but enters it fully. God knows betrayal, loss, and pain—not from a distance, but from within human life itself. So we tell the truth this week. We lament what is broken. We name what hurts. We bring before God a world that is not yet as it should be. And we do so as people who still dare to hope. Because even as we walk toward the cross, we trust that it is not the end of the story. God is already at work—quietly, persistently—bringing life where there is death, and light where the darkness feels overwhelming. The promise of resurrection does not erase what we carry, but it holds us steady within it. I am holding you in prayer in these days—that you might find space to breathe, to grieve, and to trust the deep love of God that will not let you go. Christ walks this road with us. And Christ is already preparing the dawn.
In Christ,
+Bishop Sue
