Dear SWAN Parents, Families and Friends,

October and November at SWAN have been filled with celebrations! To celebrate learning, the After-School Program has held its first Parents Teacher Conference on 11/2, teachers used the newly developed progress report to share learning milestones and upcoming learning goals. We hope the new measurement tool will show better insight to your child's Chinese speaking, reading, and writing development. For Preschool families, Parents Teacher Conference is scheduled in December, lookout for the sign-up sheet by the last week of November and we cannot wait to share all the growing that have taken place in the recent months!

To celebrate recognition, the Student of the Month Program is back in the classrooms. Every month, we will celebrate a student's outstanding effort in learning and being a student leader. Congratulations to SWAN's November student leaders, scroll below to see their names, and I look forward to meeting more student leaders in the months to come.

Finally, to celebrate culture, the Halloween celebration was a big hit, we had firefighters, cowgirls, dragons, minions, ironman, wizards and more joined the party and it was a blast! Let's have another fantastic celebration in the next Halloween.

Celebration and students' recognition are important to a child's learning journey. The team and I are always looking for ways to inspire and empower our students with language competencies in the classrooms. We also look at parents' feedback and ideas to improve overall quality. Swan's Back-to-School survey is still opened, your opinion counts, click here to share your thoughts.

Before I end this newsletter, Giving Tuesday is two weeks away on 11/28. Your support sustains SWAN and this year in particular, donors can choose to fund classroom furniture or equipment in the new SWAN space at 90 Bowery Lower Floor. I am extremely excited to share the after-school program at the Worth Street location will officially move to 90 Bowery on 1/1/2024. The new location will also be a new permanent location for the summer program. This is a major milestone for SWAN, and we could not have done this without your direct support!

We love what we do and thank you for giving SWAN the opportunity to work with your families. Happy Thanksgiving and I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season.

Warmly,

Fu Mei Cheung

Executive Director

Last month, all the students at SWAN had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween. They celebrated the festival by painting pumpkins and crafts, delved into Halloween-related Chinese vocabulary, and got into the festive spirit by singing Halloween songs.
