Welcome New
(and Returning) Staff!
We welcome Anne Webb who is returning as the part-time Financial Administrator. Anne retired from the same position, after serving the church for several years, and to our delight, decided she missed us enough to return! Anne’s first day back will be Monday, April 4. She will be working both remotely and on site with her primary day on site being Mondays.

We also welcome Josh Bass aboard as the full-time Coordinator of Children and Family Ministry. Josh has most recently served as the Program Director of Healthy Lifestyles for the Boys & Girls Club of Johnson City/Washington County. He graduated with honors from East Tennessee State University (Human Services & Social Work) and is pursuing (remotely) his Masters of Divinity in Youth and Family Ministries at Liberty University. He’s been active in church his whole life, most recently as part of St. Paul United Methodist Church and Browns Chapel AME Zion Church in Elizabethton. Josh’s first day will be Sunday, April 10.

Holy Week Worship at SSUMC April 10–17
During the 40 days of Lent, our focus has been on the cross as both a mirror that exposes the depth of our sinfulness and as a window through which the extraordinary depth of God’s love for sinners shines. Holy Week is the culmination of that journey. Each day tells us more and more about God’s deepest longing, that we may all find our way back to the heart of God.
+ Palm/Passion Sunday - Sunday, April 10 at 8:45, 9:01 and 11:00 a.m.
As we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, we cannot forget that the Redeemer of the world was rejected by the very ones he came to save.
+ Lenten Noonday Service - Wednesday, April 13 at 12:00 p.m.
State Street hosts this week’s gathering of United Methodist Churches from the Bristol area. Following a time of worship, a light lunch will be provided.
+ Holy Thursday - Thursday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m.
We gather around the table to remember Jesus’ final meal with his disciples, where both love and betrayal are revealed.
+ Good Friday - Friday, April 15 at 12:00 p.m.
Death is real. Grief is real. Suffering is real. We honor the one who refused to stop loving us, no matter what the cost.
+ Easter Sunrise Service Sunday, April 17 at 7:00 a.m.
St. Luke United Methodist Church, 105 North St., Bristol, VA 24201. Breakfast to follow.

Lenten Service at Reynolds Memorial
The third in a weekly community Lenten Service was hosted by Reynolds Memorial UMC last Wednesday, March 23. Pastor Scott Spence welcomed us with an opening prayer. Theressa Taylor, on piano, accompanied our voices in singing "Spirit Song." Carolyn Hawthorne gave some background of the Proverbs 3:27 Mission Center established to help the homeless with temporary housing. To date, donations of $703 have been jointly given at the Lenten services. Mike Wood from Weaver Church read scripture verses from John 3:1-15 followed by his message, "Knowing Jesus." After the benediction and blessing, the congregation proceeded to the Fellowship Hall to enjoy a delicious lunch of pasta, salad, rolls, and cookies. Thanks to Reynolds Memorial for their hospitality and fellowship!
