Lenten Service at Addilyn Memorial UMC
Addilynn Memoriall UMC hosted the first of six community Lenten services last on Wednesday, March 9th, at Noon in their spacious Fellowship Hall. The host, Pastor Ray Amos, welcomed about 60 attendees. The ladies of Addilynn served a light luncheon of croissant sandwiches, salad and desserts. Theressa Taylor, pianist, led a group singing of “Victory In Jesus.” Caroline Hawthorne from the Proverbs 3:17 Mission Center explained that donations from all six Lenten services offerings would support Proverbs 3:17, which finds housing and homeless shelter for those in need in the Bristol area. But more importantly, they share Christ with them! Pastor Brandon Berg of First United Methodist Church, Bristol, TN read the scripture Luke 4:1-13 followed by Earl Maine delivering the message. The community Lenten services will be held each Wednesday during Lent. All are welcome!

COVID Aware
The Church Council provides the following information weekly to help each person take appropriate precautions. You are encouraged to use your best judgment as we strive to foster a healthy environment for all.
Current rate of infection (7-day average per 100,000 as of March 16, 2022)
- Bristol City, VA: 5.1 per 100,000
- Washington County, VA: 7.2 per 100,000
- Sullivan County, TN: 18.6 per 100,000
Recommendations (to keep the church open):
- Get vaccinated as recommended by health professionals.
- Masks and social distancing best protection for unvaccinated.
-
If numbers above 10, consider masks and social distancing for all.
We are pleased to note that both Bristol, Virginia and Washington County, Virginia are now below the threshold of 10 positive cases per 100,000 when masks and social distancing are encouraged for all. The risk of community spread is now described as medium in those areas (Sullivan County remains at high risk).
This is good news! Let us continue in our love and care for one another. Masks, or no masks, all are welcome.
