*Also this Sunday, there will be a Confirmation Celebration for Xander Mingle, Chris Mingle, Bryson Anderson and Markus Poole. Xander and Chris will both be confirmed in the 9:01 service. Xander will be baptized by sprinkling. Chris will be baptized by immersion along with Bryson Poole and Markus Anderson as part of an afternoon of fun and fellowship at Camp Ahistadi in Damascus, Virginia. All are welcome to attend. The baptisms are scheduled for around 2 p.m.

Deadline for Completed Kits is this Sunday, May 22
Annual Conference Hands-On Mission Project
Thank you to all who have donated so far, we appreciate your generosity! We have collected 27 completed kits as of today. There is a collection box in the Narthex where you can drop off your completed kits by this Sunday, May 22. If you are unable to shop, but still want to help, send (or drop off) a donation to the church, noting "mission kits" on your check. We have a team of volunteers to shop and pack as many kits as donations allow. SSUMC will deliver the completed kits to the District Office next Tuesday, May 24.
Please send monetary donations by this Sunday, May 22 or drop off at the church office during business hours. Please also bring your completed kits to the church by this date.

- 1 ruler - 12 inches
- 1 small solar-powered calculator
- 1 bundle of 10-12 pens (blue or black ink)
- 1 coloring book
- 1 bundle of 10-12 pencils
- 1 pack of erasers
- 1 pack of notebook paper (wide-ruled, 150-200 sheets)
- 1 small dictionary (new or used)
- 1 box of 24 crayons
- 3 spiral notebooks (wide-ruled, 70 pages)
- 1 pair flip flops (adult size M-L)
- 1 poncho (adult size)

Craft Group Thursdays 6 - 7 p.m.
in the Library
Every Thursday our craft group meets from 6 - 7 p.m. in the Library. We are currently doing crochet but will switch to something different each month. All you need to bring is a size H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook and a skein of yarn. All ages are welcome. VBS Outreach Volunteers Needed
June 1 & 8 from 6- 7:30 p.m.
If you would like a chance to volunteer for Vacation Bible School, please join us while we walk through some of the neighborhoods near the church inviting families to join us for V.B.S. on June 1 & June 8 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you would like to help, please come to the church at 6 p.m. We will travel in vans together. Family Fun Night at Steele Creek Park
Wednesday, June 15th from 6-8 p.m.
Join us for a family fun night at Steele Creeks Park Shelter near the splash pad .We will have a cookout & access to the splash pad & playground fun. $2 entry fee per car for the park. Youth Activities

This Sunday, May 22, our students will head to Camp Ahistadi to witness the baptisms of some of our youth. We will return by 6 p.m.

Next Sunday, May 29, we will not have any youth activities due to Memorial Day weekend.

OAK Luncheon
Thursday, May 26
This month we are traveling to the Harvest Table Restaurant in Meadowview , VA on Thursday, May 26. Feel free to bring guests or prospective members. Sign-up sheets are on the clipboard on Sunday mornings or outside the Parish Nurse office (Rm #102). We will be providing transportation with the handicap bus with a 15 passenger capacity. Additional transportation will be provided if needed. We plan to leave promptly at 11 a.m. Please sign up by noon on Monday, May 23. If you have questions, call Patty Kilbreath (423) 646-5577.
OAK is a group of adults who enjoy a time of fellowship and lunch throughout the year. It is an opportunity to join in safe and accessible functions that all can participate. We are eager to find new and interesting locations as we visit some of our old favorites. Please stop by and pick up a new calendar for the rest of 2022. Church Nursery Worker - State Street UMC is seeking 2 Nursery Workers. Qualifications include a love for God and God's children, experience caring for infants and preschoolers, and a minimum age of 16. Previous experience in child care preferred. Background check required. Compensation is $12 per hour. Available shifts include: Sunday mornings from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Wednesday evenings from 5:15 - 7:45 p.m. & Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. plus occasional Monday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. For information, email Cheri at churchoffice@state-street.org or call the Church Office at (276) 669-2101.

We are excited to announce a monthly Men's Prayer Breakfast and meeting on the first Tuesday each month! The next prayer breakfast will be held in the Fellowship Hall on June 7 at 8:30 a.m. Brief devotion, prayers, conversation, and breakfast will be provided. The cost is $5 payable upon arrival. Thank you so much to everyone who’s purchased items from our registry! We are so blessed with such wonderful support! Our registry continues through Friday, May 27!
Exciting updates will take place this summer in the preschool wing of SSUMC. Spring Garden Preschool received a grant which will cover the cost and labor for new floors and painting in all the classrooms and restrooms on the ground floor of the children’s wing. Church Council approved these improvements. These rooms are also used by State Street UMC children’s programming including church nursery, etc. Please help stock those rooms with new equipment and learning tools.

Sunday Worship In-Person & Online
SSUMC offers opportunities for worship on Sunday mornings with three different spaces and flavors:
+ 8:45 a.m. in the Chapel – Informal service with traditional hymns.
+ 9:01 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall – Modern service with music led by the Praise Band.
+ 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary – Traditional service with choir and organ.
Godly Play (a worship experience for ages 4 - 5th grade) is offered during 9:01 service.

Our preschool classes have been enjoying the beautiful Spring weather by having teddy bear picnics with their favorite stuffed friends!
