THE RESORT AT PORT LUDLOW
MAY 2023
| |
Greetings from Port Ludlow, | |
|
Happy May Everyone –
So excited to see the emergence of the colorful May flowers in bloom and to celebrate all of the amazing Moms!
For me I feel a bit guilty that we only celebrate Moms one day a year. Mostly because what I now know, that I did not appreciate growing up, is my mom, is the strongest, most honest, hardworking person I have ever known, I am sure many of you can relate.
While we all may have been raised differently I am sure we can agree that there is a Mom that played a significant role in who we are today.
We have lots of ways to show your appreciation to a special Mom in your life including:
- Wednesday farm dinners
- ½ price wines sale on Sundays
- Mother’s Day Brunch on the 14 - still a few spaces left!
- Golfing Mom, sign up for the Port Ludlow Women’s invitational on June 27
- Boater Mom, visit our Marina Swap this Saturday
- Take in one of the many hikes in Port Ludlow – one of my favorites is the Ludlow Falls Trail. I usually start by going to the right so I can hear and see the raging falls, then follow it down the path where it becomes a babbling brook.
- Cellar Master Dinner on June 1st
May is an exciting time to see the produce brought to us weekly from local farms, less than 20 miles away in the surrounding Chimacum Valley which means are menus, especially the dinner menu, will be changing to reflect what the purveyors bring us. If you are interested in a Farm to Fork experience, check out our Farm package. which starts up again in June.
Happy Mother’s Day to ALL moms, I hope we can make you proud.

Sage Rat is a small winery based in the Yakima Valley that started in early 2020 with a goal to make refreshing, unique wines with limited intervention in the winemaking process. These young Washington winemakers are at the forefront of the new wave of winemakers making fresher styles make great food pairings.

Scenic Valley Farms

Scenic Valley Farms is a great family farm from the the Willamette Valley, (check out their Pinot Noir on our by-the-glass menu) that grow over a thousand acres of pears, wheat, hazelnuts, hops, grass seed and wine grapes.
Winemaker Gabriel Jagle studied at the Chemeketa Viticulture Center, where he learned to make wines that are clean and precise, then trained at Illahe Vineyards and Winery, where he learned to make wines that were soulful and expressive.

If you're walking the docks the next few weeks, you may see this netted yellow structure moored and wonder what it is.
The floating wedge-shaped structure, called a fillet, is currently being piloted to improve steelhead salmon survival at the Hood Canal Bridge.
The project is being coordinated by Long Live the Kings and partners including: Port Gamble S'Klallams, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, WSDOT and the Hood Canal Coordinating Council.
The fillet will be installed and removed in one-week windows during the peak of steelhead migration, between April 10 and May 14 and moored at Port Ludlow Marina when not in use.
