Summer sunset by Brian Diehl

Greetings from Port Ludlow,

As the waning summer sun graces us with its golden touch, I am crossing my fingers in hopes we get the summer weather to stick around through September.

We are looking forward to catering the Jefferson County Farmers Market benefit dinner just a few miles away at White Lotus Farm. While preparing the menu for the event, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for the farmers whose dedication and hard work brought forth the ingredients that adorned all of our dishes.

Engaging with our farmers is one of the highlights of my job and not only enriches our understanding of the ingredients but also reinforces our commitment to the "farm-to-fork" ethos that lies at the heart of The Fireside's culinary philosophy.

I encourage you all to "Get on the Farm" during Jefferson County Farm Tour weekend September 16-17. A number of farms including Egg and I Pork, Kodama Farm, and Finnriver Cidery will be hosting events for the whole family to enjoy.

With two of our long-time coworkers recently retiring, I've reflected back through my 15 years here and find myself grateful to have had and continue to have the opportunity to work with so many passionate team members.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for the young people that have worked with us as their first job (many have since gone off to college, come back for summers and have now graduated and moved on to their new profession) as well as the few that have made working here their career. These folks have contributed so much to our organization and I cant thank them enough. But I will try!

A special congratulations to Dave and Greg, it has been my pleasure to work along side you all these years.

Celebrating the retirement of our longstanding kitchen team member Dave.

As we step into this beautiful month, I encourage you to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and flavors that September brings. Whether you're here for a relaxing getaway, a delicious meal, or to enjoy our winemaker's dinner, we're here to make your experience truly exceptional.

Wishing you all a September filled with warmth, wonder, and the joy of embracing nature's bounty.

Cheers,

Wine Spectator 'Best of Award of Excellence'

We're delighted to announce that The Fireside is one of Wine Spectator's 2023 Best of Award of Excellence winners.

Criteria for Best of Award of Excellence winners includes restaurants offering well-curated lists with around 350 selections representing a breadth of wine regions and styles, as well as vintage depth through vertical collections of notable wines.

The wine lists feature quality producers and wines that diners wouldn’t easily find at local wine stores and drink at home. These wine selections also match the restaurant’s cuisine in both style and pricing, giving guests a well-rounded experience.

Still a Few Tickets Left!

We're looking forward to welcoming Scenic Valley Farms winemaker Gabriel Jagle who studied at the Chemeketa Viticulture Center, where he learned to make wines that are clean and precise, then trained at Illahe Vineyards and Winery, where he learned to make wines that were soulful and expressive.

$89 per person
